Reforms On Auto-Moderating Comments

Sometimes I get a comment replaced with a message which says something like "You have posted something similar recently. Please try posting again later." Usually it appears when I get 3 or more comments like this:

This is an awesome project.

I like this project.

This is so good, you should make a sequel!

And reply:

Thanks!

To them all.

I know that this is to stop commercial spammers whch post stuff like this:

Jacket £36
Trousers £28
Shirt £22
At M&S

Over and over again. However, people with the Scratcher status are not going to do these things. What I am suggesting is a sensor that detects your status and does not display the message if you are a Scratcher. I know that this seems slightly harsh on New Scratchers but at least 80% of comments on my projects are posted by people with the Scratcher status.

Re: Reforms On Auto-Moderating Comments

I thought it wasn't supposed to do that on your own projects anymore!

Re: Reforms On Auto-Moderating Comments

The forums and the main site are two different sites, so I doubt it's even possible to detect your rank.

[EDIT: Re-phrased.]

Re: Reforms On Auto-Moderating Comments

I completely agree of you, but as Jontmy said, the forums may not look like it but it's a completely different site altogether!

But perhaps the Scratch Team can make a detector bot to see if the message being posted isn't spam?

Re: Reforms On Auto-Moderating Comments

I agree. Also, the word censor on the main site is a little too sensitive. I remember a few months ago "Saturday" was censored.
EDIT: You don't have to tell me why Saturday was censored, I can see the word that made the censor catch it.

Re: Reforms On Auto-Moderating Comments

If it is impossible for the main site to sense your forum rank, then why is it possible for the forums to detect how many projects/comments you have.

It's because it uses APIs.

It's because it uses APIs.

1) Wat are APIs?
2) Could APIs sense your forum rank on the main site?

Re: Reforms On Auto-Moderating Comments

See, the problem with having it sense if you're a scratcher, is that there's 1 million users, only about 1,000 of them ever used the forums, and only about 500 of them are scratchers. So, if you've been an active person on the main site for 3 years, yet never went to the forums, you're going to be treated like you're new.

Also, I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that the "Message posted recently" thing is going to be gone in 2.0.

Edit: Here, it says it's planned
