I know that there are many minecraft players here, myself included. A while ago, some people on reddit did a thing called "Ask Mojang Anything". The idea of it was that you ask the people in Mojang (the people who made minecraft) whatever you want to ask them.
I was thinking it would be cool to do something like this with the Scratch Team. You will be able to ask specific members of the team (or the moderators) questions. The questions can not be about bans or similar, confidential matters. Some good questions would be like this:
"How much time do you spend on the scratch website each day?"
"How big of a role do you play with the development of the software?"
"What is your cat's name?" (I believe Paddle2See has a cat)
Each member of the team will have a day where there ASTA session takes place. (more on this later) The day before, I will post a topic where you start asking questions. When the ASTA day starts, the member of the team will start answering the questions. When the day is over, the topic will be closed and discussion of the answers will take place on this topic.
If you are a member of the scratch team (or a moderator), choose 3 dates you can do the session and 1 backup date after all 3 of them. I will start an offsite poll and the community will vote for one of the 3 dates. The voted date will then become the date of the ASTA session.
Here's an example of how it might work:
-Paddle2See posts 3 dates
-Vote takes place
-Date B is chosen
-The day before date B comes and I post topic for questions
-Questions start flooding in
-Date B comes
-Paddle2See begins answering questions. (people can still post questions)
-Date B ends.
-Topic is closed
-Discussion continues on this topic
Please post any ideas, suggestions, dates (if you are ST or mod), or anything about this subject on this thread.

Yeah the mods have been a bit active on this forum but haven't posted yet.
might need to ask the "Head Scratch Team" guy for permission...

There isn't really a 'head scratch team guy' afaik
but hmm
if you ask one they might pass the word along?

Got this email back
Hey Majormax,
That's a cool idea! However, we're pretty tied up with 2.0 stuff, and a bunch of us are traveling to conferences right now.
Do you think it would work if maybe a couple of us ST folks got together sometime, and made a thread where people could ask questions, maybe for a couple hours or an afternoon? That might be a little simpler.
Is your goal to find out more about us, or is it mostly Scratch 2.0 type of questions, or is it both? And btw, your idea inspired us to make a blog post introducing ourselves - so look for that in the next month or so.
-Amos
Maybe some mods will be interested, but seems like the ST is pretty busy
2.0 soon?

i have a project that i have to pre-set 3 questions , each of the questions will provide 4 choices. When player play, the re-set questions should be randonly selected to ask player with choices until the player can answer all correctly, otherwise, questions will be asked randomly again. The problem is
1. How can I randomly select the pre-set question with 4 choices?
2. How can I count the number of correct answer?

1. Put the questions in the list, (pick random 1-(numberofquestions)
2. Make a varible go up if they get this
3. Wrong section.
[ontopic] Nice idea [/ontopic]

not quite genius, more a exact copy of something done thousands of times before.
i'm not saying it's a bad idea, it could be quite cool. although it most likely would have people asking for the sake of asking, even if they don't give a frick what the answer is.

Thanks for suggesting this, Majormax, after a lot of discussion we've developed on your idea a little and created an "Ask The Scratch Team" project You can see it here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/sparks/2963690

Wait. I found the forum. I suggested this December 1, 2012 on Lightnin's project Gobo Gets Phished, but credit is given to majormax. I even made a project like it around the same time.

ASTA has already ended, and here was not the place to post it.

We're actually thinking about making this an ongoing process with periodic projects answering questions but we're still working out the details

that'd be cool. Maybe have a sidebar thingy on the front page for ASTA when there's a project out for it or something.
