I could record my piano next week.

I do 16 bit usually, similar to what you may see on Nitrome. I could work on making the enemies. We probably won't be doing any pixel art, 8- or 16-bit.
Well, I'm totally useless for anything but scripts, then.
that's the most important job!

I would be useless until next Wednesday.

Okay, so let's review what we've come up with:
3 different robots to start with
Buyable parts like weapons, armor, and joints (for extra speed or strength)
various levels with:
-an end portal to unlock the next level
-enemies to fight
-randomly generated powerups or loot
-switches and buttons to open up different areas
Bossfights
Unlockable items (new powerups or weapons)

Sounds awesome!
Should one of us start on it?

Who's good with animation and/or graphics? Because before we can start coding, we need someone to design the character(s) and start outlining levels. (The level outlining can be done on a sheet of paper.) We also have a few details to work out such as interface.

Yep, I can do this next week.

Currently, I am grounded from my laptop, and so I won't be able to work for a few days, maybe a week.

I can start whenever. Is there anything I can do?

Here's our to-do list (in chronological order):
1) concept sketches for levels, characters, weapons, etc.
2) design character, enemies, and weapons
3) animate character and enemies
4) physics engine
5) health, speed, strength, and defense variables
6) enemy-character interaction
7) interface (menu and level select)
8) store and currency
9) create powerups that randomly spawn
10) touchups
11) final bug check
So, for now, work on the first two. For the concept sketching, just brainstorm and think of as many ideas as you can and draw them on paper. After you think you have some cool designs, draw them on the computer.

Hey guys, I just uploaded a project that I was working on for a while, but I abandoned. It's surprisingly similar to the type of project we plan to do. Go have a looksee:

Just another idea, we could make different classes of robots.
(Blaster, Warrior, Assassin.)
Along with the different starting types, so the player can have more to customize.

Rather similar, I agree. But it does not seem as awesome as we plan to make this project.

We will add in the variables later.

Yeah, our project is going to be awesome! However, since it's so complex, I am a bit worried that the file will be too big to upload! XD!!!
I think we could just use the scrolling engine from that project and incorporate it into ours. The character's movement physics will be a bit different, but not very.

True. XD
Good idea!

So, I'm working on the sketches for the different robot classes. (Blaster, warrior, assassin)
I've started out on paper, and when I'm finished colouring it on Scratch, I'll show the finished product on my test account.

Check the link above for artwork of a design for our robot character.

We DO have 10MB, and if you compress them, sounds don't take up much space. I have a whole array of cool weapon sounds. I have been doing some designs on scratch of weapons, engines and bases (the actual robot) which have bonuses and costs. When I finish it I shall upload them.

I'm composing the title menu, I got my piano...

Does anyone have an idea for a storyline?
•Why is the robot is fighting in the arena/area?
•Where is the arena/area?
•Who/what is the robot?

How about:
The robot is an escaped prototype that killed his creator and is now trying to escape the complex laboratory he is trapped in.

We already have the scrolling engine made. Go download my project titled, "ball game (unfinished)." Copper has already started working on a few designs for the character. You should go exchange ideas with him and figure out what we'll do for the character.
