Wait, what do you mean it closes when you use the camera?
If you are talking about 1.4 Scratch download program, I don't know how to help you.
How can you use the camera in which it would affect the browser, archived forums,and the website, including the scratch program?

Well, the only camera feature in 1.4, is one where it takes a picture for a costume, in which you can easily replicate with another program + screenshotting. I don't know how to help you fix the bug, but that's just a way to help you get around it for now.

Well, on mac, there's such thing as "Photo Booth", that allows you to take pictures via mac camera. I'm sure there are other applications out there that can do what you're needing to do.
