anyway i dont get why people think that life has to have a "meaning"
people do not have a designated purpose and neither do their lives

Most people who make the 42 joke haven't actually read the books, in my experience.

Since it's "the answer to life, the universe, and everything" and we don't know the question, we can't say it's the meaning to those things.

Regardless, 42 is just a random number Adams came up with as a sort of "perfectly normal number" and was really just a quick joke.

Anyway, I suppose many people, including myself, find religious meaning in life but if you take that away then there really isn't one. Everyone dies eventually and some just have a better time before they do than others.
