I somehow deleted the blank, original stage and created 2 other stages but now I don't have the option to "switch to background". Can I get the original stage back on there, or do I need to start fresh, or is there another option? It is hard and I've redone it 4 times already. I want to switch backgrounds when one sprite touches another. I am brand new at this. Thanks for your help!

Oh, I figured it out! Thank you anyway.

When I saw this title, I opened up Scratch and attempted to delete the stage. I failed miserably.
Anyways, could you possibly upload the project (then we can all try random things to get the stage to reappear and so we can see the problem ourselves).
Edit: Ah, too late. You already fixed it.

Magnie,
No, I didn't 'fix' it, i just figured a way around it. I need help now trying to figure out how to get my sprites to disappear from the second background. I think I am stuck. I can upload it but how do I do that from here so you can see it? Thank you!!

Sorry for my confusion, I don't think I am expressing myself correctly. When Scratch is first opened there is the blank stage. I left that blank and imported two more 'stages', then i deleted the first, original stage that was blank. I thought that may have messed me up because I couldn't see the "switch to background" option under the Looks category or under any category so I asked for help. But now I see the switch to background option so I don't know what I did :-). I just need to study more on this. Thank you!

I think i know what happened, when you are looking for the 'switch background ' block , have you selected the background?
Did you just imported the backgrounds as separate sprites?
when you don't see the switch background block do you see the switch costume?
