Trying to figure out how to switch between Sprite 1 and 2 by clicking

Hello,
I'm very new to scratch and I'm trying to make a game.  I have uploaded a part of the game that I'm working on.  Sprites have to be able to walk in a maze, one at a time. I want to be able to switch between sprites by clicking on them. I have tried broadcasting without any result... Help, please...

I'm new to Scratch to. But my understanding you have to program one cat to the arrow keys, and the other to the  w ,a,s,d keys for example. Now if you could help me if you know that would be great.

Thanks, but that is not an option since I will have many sprites in this game, and I need all of them to move separately.  Instructions on using the game would need to go into a booklet this way :-(
