Would true multiplayer projects be possible with Scratch 2.0?

Would it be possible with the new cloud lists, or will it beyond the capabilities of Scratch 2.0. Say for example, a two player online racing game. Players wait in a waiting room type place for another person across the globe to click on the project, then they use simple controls to beat each other to the finish line. Or maybe a chat room type place where people customise their avatars and walk around talking with other people on the stage. And while we're at that, when will Scratch 2.0 be released?

Yes, it is possible. In the beta, the Scratch team made a chat project, where you could chat with other people. They also made a Pong game (if I can remember right), that you can play with other Scratchers.

It's possible, but very slow. It's best to stick to TBG MMOs aka MMUDS

It's definitely possible, and the cloud data will be faster when all of the Scratch servers are used for 2.0.

So long, 1.4.

But the client searches every 2 seconds.

Hmm... It worked faster for me in the prototype. I guess we'll know for sure in the full release.  smile

I thought it was every half second. I'll have to go check.

EDIT: Can't find it in the web console.  hmm

Last I'd heard was 2. Maybe it was changed.
