Eww, color scheme.
Might want to try black on white and then tweak the colors a bit. White text on light backgrounds is never a good idea. Hard to read.

Black on white is what YOU prefer.

It's not about preferring black on white, it's the fact that white text on a light background is VERY difficult to read. It makes my eyes strain.

Very nice for your first time scripting!
Before you get too into Javascript, though, I highly recommend learning CSS, as it will also help you develop a more attractive website. And I have a few suggestions for the site as well, if you'll hear me out. I'm going to be very honest about my suggestions, but unfortunately, I may also seem a bit rude... I apologize in advance.
Suggestion number one: proofread. You seem to be lacking punctuation and capitalization in multiple areas on the site, mostly in the headers. This may be just your personal preference. In any case, I highly suggest that you at least change the font, font color, or font decorations of the headers, to distinguish them more.
Suggestion number two: change up the fonts and font colors. The white text in the seagreen side box becomes hard to see, as it's a light color on a light color. Perhaps changing the color of the text in that box only to something like teal...?
S #3 (too lazy to write it out): Consider changing the background to a gradient or pattern. Lots of the colors on your site so far are very flat; nothing really "pops out" and makes you want to take a second look at it. Maybe the only thing you need to do is add a black outline to the boxes, who knows. It's up to you.
S #4: There's nearly half a browser window of blank space on the right side. Maybe you can use that for something...
S #5: This is only because I'm an artist and I no doubt have OCD, but maybe spice up the favicon a little bit. The one you have now is good: very to-the-point, very symbolic. It just lacks interest. It's one-dimensional and doesn't have any clear outline, so it looks almost as though the body is supposed to be part of the head. You don't need harsh black outlines to define what's what (after all, it's only 16 x 16, no way to fit very much detail in there), all you need is a little bit of shading. Consider the difference between the current favicon and a favicon with shading and a background:
...again, this may just be a personal preference of mine.
Now, onto the less negative overview. (I'm writing a freaking essay, why must I be such a perfectionist XP )
The boxes. I love the shape. I love the colors. I especially love the locations you chose for them. I like the link subjects, and the way they're laid out so that it's very easy to get to where you want to go. I like the accessible sidebar with the links, and the box colors contrast the background well. (I like, I like, I like being repetitive )
The blog is also messy and fun. I enjoy the random gifs and pictures, especially the dancing Squidward gif. And unlike most personal sites, you don't have a three-page-long "About Me" section, which is a relief for nonreaders. The contact form is easy to find and fill out, thus saving a lot of time if someone needs to tell you something more personal. I also find it very interesting that you found a forum host that has the same forum layout that Scratch does. When I clicked on the link I nearly had a heart attack: I thought you'd hacked Scratch! XP On taking a closer look, I now know that while the forums are set up similar to those of Scratch, there are obviously some very different subforums. I believe that you've done a nice job incorporating the forums that people want in a neat manner. The only thing I can't stand are all of the advertisements! But you can't do much about that, so there's no point in me complaining.
Sorry for trying to kill you with text. I like to type a lot. XP
