Why ? I don't use a lot of fancy-shmancy graphics.

Re: Our PCs!

Perhaps you guys would have some insight:
I have an old computer laying around HDDless. It has 3GB RAM, 2.4GHz Core2Quad. Could I grab a decent GPU and HDD and get a decent gaming rig better than a 2.3GHz Ivy Bridge i7 with only Intel HD 4000? (Laptop, not upgradable)

PC stands for Personal Computer and my Mac is a "Personal Computer". Why do you hate Mac so much? The hardware may not be as good, but you don't need the best hardware on Mac OS X because it is faster than Windows.

Re: Our PCs!

I feel I shouldn't post my specs as people may not like me :C

Oh well.. I'll do it:

CPU: Intel Quad 2 @ 498.360 MHz Reference Clock, 996.720 (DDR) MHz FSB Freq., 4485.239 MHz CPU core Freq., 9.0X CPU Multiplier (that's the average for all of my 4 cores)
GPU: NVidia GeForce 8500 GT @ 500 MHz GPU core clock, 515 MHz GPU memory clock, 1005 MHz GPU Shader clock
Motherboard @ Reference Clock 496.178 MHz, FSB Freq. 990.357 (DDR) MHz
OS: Win. 7 SP 1 Build 7601 @ 6.05.30 Preformance, 301.42 GeForce Video (idk what this is for), 11.0 Microsoft DirectX

It's pretty good, but when you see my dad's PC specs, his is like.. A LOT better than mine.
Also, I got all of this info through my NVidia control panel (Preformance -> View system info.) so if any info is missing, blame NVidia C:

EDIT:
I forgot to add, my monitor is an Acer AL1916W @ 1440x900 and my Keyboard is a Microsoft keyboard (unknown version). I'm not posting my mouse info as it's a placeholder mouse and it's really bad. If you really want to know, it's from Asda. :C

I personally recommend Piriform Speccy piriform.com, it will tell you all of the information about your system, including things like CPU temp. Just make sure to uncheck the box that will install adware, you don't want another toolbar.

Yea, neither of us have EVER posted in these topics, have we?  roll

I'm planning on sticking a newer CPU and a Radeon HD6770, in the Athlon X2 machine, and calling it a budget gaming rig. This laptop struggles with Mass Effect 3. D:

Hmm... that would probably be a pretty good budget rig, actually, although I dunno what you have for a socket in the Athlon 64 rig. Finding a better CPU could be hit or miss depending on what it is.  hmm

The computer I use right now had Windows 95 at one point in time. O.o

Then in 2003, my dad took on opening the computer, replacing it, and completely updating it to Windows XP. Then around last year we updated it to Win7. Now I'm going to update it to Win8 when it's out on Friday.
