How does everybody define success on this website?

I'm just wondering. How do most people define success on this website? Please reply with how you do.

Re: How does everybody define success on this website?

For me, it's having a good time, getting atleast 1 project on the front page, and helping other scratchers with their projects. That is what I call success.

Unfortunately for me, my newest project, Top ten reasons not to re-elect Obama has 85 comments, and 30+ views, which is saying something for me. But almost all the comments are negative because everyone wants Obama re-elected.  sad

you shouldn't be making political projects like that on scratch anyways i don't think, it could lead to problems worse than what you've mentioned.

Re: How does everybody define success on this website?

success on scratch is, in my opinion, making a something never before thought possible in scratch. literally anything can be made glitchlessly in scratch, though sometimes it might be too large to upload! lol.

Success should be:
learning to program enough so that you can move onto another language, closer to your goals.

Re: How does everybody define success on this website?

I only compete with myself.  Therefore, I consider myself a success when I am able to meet the goals I set for myself.

For example, I had set a goal for myself to create a free-form tower defense game.  I didn't know that I would be successful when I started the project.  I even started posting copies of the game while it was still in progress... something that I never do.  They're still there.  You can see them on my test account.

In the end, I feel that I was successful.  I was able to come up with solutions to all of the problems that I faced.  The game works and I have played it many times.  I've come up with all kinds of mazes and different techniques for winning the game.  I find the game fun.  And, that's all that matters to me.

The fact that others find my games fun to play is just icing on the cake.

Re: How does everybody define success on this website?

What is, and what isn't success, is up to everybody. Just look at all the answers.  tongue

For me, success is proportional to how popular and well received and criticized one's works (be it a Scratch project or anything) are.

Re: How does everybody define success on this website?

Success should be an always expanding set of goals and expectations.

Personally, success on Scratch has developed over time.  Popularity was undoubtedly one of my primary indicators; now popularity seems less necessary.

I program with Scratch because I choose to use Scratch for a specific project, not because I want views on a website.  I'm not really trying to "succeed" on Scratch anymore because I personally feel I've grown past it.  That may be the ultimate "success": moving beyond Scratch, feeling that it has provided you with as much personal growth as it could.

Success is when you're proud of your project.
