how is it even dangerous
ive seen flash projects that hide the mouse pointer when the mouse is touching the flash object. i see no reason why it is dangerous. do you think that the flash player would be capable of sucking the mouse pointer into some vortex of invisibility, never to return? you can't really lose the mouse pointer...

Or make the mouse like a sprite

And it's NOT dangerous.
If the mouse is suddenly away, everybody moves it around, and if it's back again then, there's no point to say it's dangerous.
exactly

please don't make baseless claims and explain why it is wrong. actually contribute to the discussion.

1) I'm not making pointless claims.
2) I am.
3) Grammar.

1) Your claim is not pointless; But baseless it is - could you please explain in what way hiding the mouse in the player borders is dangerous?
2) By which way?
3) This wasn't contributing. BTW, "Grammar." is not a sentence, so no period there.

Is it possible to change the mouse pointer? I would like to have a bash at a target shooting game and would like the mouse pointer to look like a crosshair. I apologize if this has been asked before, but I have to start somewhere...

you cannot; that's what the suggestion is about

Thanks guys. I figured that the pointer may not be able to be changed, but I figured I would ask anyway. My only choice is either to create a different game or change the "center" of the crosshair so that the mouse pointer does not block the view of the target.
Thank you for replying so quickly.

on fullscreen mode that could still be a problem
How
well if its in fullscreen there is no part of the screen thats not part of the project
either way itd be a good idea to make it so that the esc key stops the projects just as the enter key starts it
Windows key, Alt+Tab, Windows+Tab, etc. Simple enough. And the Escape key should make it not fullscreen. Just a matter of established tradition for keypress functions.

Or just somehow make it so that the cursor's only hidden when it's within the region of the project.
Is it even possible to do it otherwise?

You should be able to turn the hiding off, because how would you see where you were clicking in games where the point of the game is to click objects?
Simple.
1. Don't play the game.
2. I imagine it as a setting within the project editor. That would deal with any issues quite nicely.
Edit: And before anyone tells me I'm necroposting, this is linked to from a stickied thread.
