Discuss higher dimensions here! (Spatial dimensions. I swear, if someone says time is the fourth dimension I will strangle myself U_U). Probably most famous is the 4th dimension.

My nerdy friend told me this. (so don't strangle me) XD
this does not necessarily describe a 4th spatial dimension...
Imagine a world that is a dot. there are no dimensions, based on the geometric definition of a "point"
Now imagine 1 dimension, a line. A good example is houses A, B, C, and D on Main street. We can travel down Main street, from house A to House D, by going through B and C.
Of course, in a city, you do not need to pass through House B or C to get from House A to House D, so there must be a 2nd dimension, other streets in the city.
Let's enlarge our example. Now imagine Portland, New York, Los Angeles, and Denver. We can travel between these cities through other cities, by road. We can also travel between them without going through any other cities, by flying. When we do this, we fly. (duh )
BUT! If we can get from Portland to New York without going through the airspace or other cities, then we have to use another dimension! A good explanation is teleportation. Perhaps the 4th dimension is linked to that, but how?
Maybe it's time. If we can stall time, then travel, then resume time, we didn't go through those places in a record-able way.
Or perhaps, when teleporting, we 'step' into another dimension, obviously unknown.
Of course, I would know how teleporting worked, because I've never done it.
thoughts?

Well, these are different things. General relativity states that time is a/the 4th dimension, but we have mathematical proof of a 4th dimension (I can't remember where exactly I saw it though). And teleportation through rather a lower dimension seems easier; from 0 to 3 dimensions you'd could go anywhere instantly

Actually, zubblewu's talking about spatial dimensions, such as a tesseract as a 4th dimensional object. Not the 4th dimension as in time, which is what that video is talking about.

spacia dimensions is this topic.
time dimensions was the other.
there are a TON of patterns you can use to imagine.

I made an animated image of a camera infinitely zooming in on a point.

YEAH.
Anyway, I think the whole "higher dimentions" thing is a bunch of polony.

It is. It's 1 black pixel in the center of the image.

Higher dimensions: 6D, 8D, 6D mazes.

That's thought-provoking! But if one were to "harness" the fourth dimension and freeze time, how would his affect the rest of reality? Perhaps the fourth dimension is-
...I'm not exactly a genius.
EDIT: Ugh! Facepalm! That is not to say that I'm thickheaded! >_<
