Flash project player is now the default!

First off: Thanks to everyone who has helped track down glitches in the flash player!

We've now made the flash player the default project player on the Scratch website. So if you aren't logged in, or if you haven't selected a preference for the Java player, that's the player you'll see.

From what we've seen, most of the major glitches have been worked out. But if there are ones we've missed, please report them on this thread:

http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=107666

We really want to make sure the flash player works well with as many projects as possible, because once we transition to Scratch 2.0, the Java player will no longer be available.

Thanks to everyone who has helped, and everyone who will help nail down glitches in the Flash player!

Scratch On!

The flash player is significantly faster than the java player.  And when you factor in Turbo mode... MAJORLY faster.

Many of my games are so complex that they require the flash player in order to be playable.

So, I'm happy about this because people that weren't logged in couldn't ever see the flash player.  Now, they get it by default.  People without accounts can now play my games.

THAT's what is sooooooo good about this news.

I'm pretty sure that there are more projects that don't work in fLaSh

You're just guessing now.  Where's your proof?

EDIT:  Here's my data...

Out of my 24 projects, 24 of them work on the Flash player and only 20 of them work on the Java player.

you sample of projects are biased because they where not taken from a random selection of projects.

That doesn't make the results biased

Look what up

Whether or not choosing your own projects in a test to determine which player runs projects the most effectively is biased or not??

I supplied data to support my claim of "People without accounts can now play my games."

Re: Flash project player is now the default!

I logged out of Scratch and viewed some project and... It Was The New Flash Player! So now you can only Java when you're logged into Scratch just like how it was with the old Flash Player!  smile

Just a reminder to people who host projects on their own web sites, If you use it, be sure to grab a copy of the Java player before it goes away for good.

I host some games on my own site and I just grabbed a copy as the one I'm using is a little old.

When you get older and more mature you'll understand that I did, in fact, prove my point with hard data to backup my statement.

Until then, just know that if you continue to post baseless claims without data to backup your position, you're just spamming the boards.
