Recently, I've come to realize that when someone adds you to their list of friends, they aren't automatically imported as one of your own. This puzzles me a bit. Friendship is defined as a mutual relationship. Why are Scratchers allowed to add you to their friend's list without your permission, and not, in turn, be added to yours? That doesn't seem like a friendship to me, rather a forced acquaintance.

It's being renamed to followers.

Yeah, they thought of that on Scratch 2.0.
I'm told that the term "followers" is used instead. Also, for now, what if someone you've never heard of? You don't want to friend them back (probably).

Yes. I get a new friend every 1-2 weeks, and I don't friend any (except the ones who I have friended now).

I do believe they're changing that in the next version of Scratch, as ImagineIt pointed out.

On the Scratch 2.0 website, the friends system, faves system and love-its system is being scrapped, and replaced with a follower system. You follow a project rather than a person.

In Scratch 2.0, friends are being changed to followers, I believe.
