What is the most popular type of game on scratch?

This does not include games like Spectrum. I have heard that platformers are, but I'm not so sure.

Yup, definitely Platformers, though RPGs are pretty popular too.

most games on the website are platformers. there are lots of projects based on the scrolling demo and using platformer bases

Platformers. If you look at some of the most popular games on Scratch (Cube World for example), they are platformers.
