Re: Skype ransomeware virus

My dad clicked one once. Good thing he was on a Mac :3

Protip: If you're going to target use iPads as bait for a virus advertisement trap, make sure the virus is Mac compatible, since around half will be Mac owners, whereas the other half will be wannabes.

Re: Skype ransomeware virus

those statistics are incorrect
more than half of those people will be non-mac users, and they won't be wannabes
someone can like some products and not others by a company and not be a wannabe

I'm special. Your argument is invalid :3

Also, I meant the people who click the ad, not the people who see it  tongue

Time Machine

Instead of attacking the logic of fictional commercial personas . . .

There are much more effective ways to protect files on a PC than something like Time Machine.

Saving every single file is a pretty big waste of space to have. Every single one isn't hyper important! I've got a simple backup program that I can specify what sections/folders I want backed up.

Coupled with any sort of capable free anti-malware system, my computer's pretty darn safe.

Re: Skype ransomeware virus

My friend has gotten a few things like this.

1. A fake antivirus that claimed everything on his computer was highly infected and wouldn't let him open anything until he paid for it

2. Something that "deleted all his files until he paid for it (actually hid them)

3. The worst internet redirect/ everything else in 1 virus ever.

I fixed all but the 3rd one, hopefully I'll be abe to go to his house and fix it soon  tongue .

Re: Skype ransomeware virus

Do you find the actual virus distributor in Skype itself?
My dad uses Skype sometimes, I'd like to warn him about it.
