I'm thinking about getting RPG maker, but I'm having trouble deciding which version to get. For me, RPG make VX Ace is by far out of the question because it's 90 DOLLARS!!!!
I'm not looking to market my games at all. I LOVE 8-bit and 16-bit, and I've been hearing that XP is less-16-bit than VX. So I'm leaning towards VX right now, but also, the 30 dollar price gap is a big thing for me.
So really the only things I care about is the 16-bit-ness of it, the price, and the map size (because I'm looking to make simple yet large-scale games). Also I care about beginner-friendly-ness. I have never used any of the RPG makers before.
A HUGE THANKS IF YOU COULD TELL ME WHICH ONE IS BETTER IN THOSE FIELDS!!!
EDIT: I would post this on some other fourum such as yahoo answers or something like that but my parents won't let me make an account on those.

Well, you can do 16-bit in anything, just draw the graphics that way.
Also, I would recommend getting a free trial of them first to see what they're like.

Depends.
XP is often praised for having the most customization, and VX is a lot easier to use.
