1. Makes sense.

3. That's what makes the FP mainly bad.
4. I won't, your post is one of the most constructive in this thread.

At least one person agrees with me.
I strongly dislike the top loved, top remixed, and top viewed.

However, the loved and viewed aren't that bad. I'd say, in order of quality from greatest to least, the FP goes something like this:
Featured
Curated
Loved
SDS
Viewed
Newest
Current SDS (which has been here for ~2 months)
Remixed

Loved is relatively high because some good projects can come because of it.
I wasn't really sure if SDS should go above viewed or not.
Viewed can be good though: It got Crumble 3.8 to the front page.

Actually, not for me.
Right now, the three in love-it are:  Art dump, not the point of Scratch at all, the 3D slinky which is just a GIF from the internet, and the ninja platformer.
Art dumps/CCs/art stuff are a waste of Scratch server space IMO.That's what DeviantArt is for.

Art dump... What can I say.
Same for 3D gif.

Also, the 3 for me are ganenam style (whatever that is), art dump, and 1s1s ninja.

If you're not, then what were you doing? And I never said you said you didn't like them all.

I was trying to say (and ask why) that the guides for getting "popular" didn't work, but this quickly turned into a big argument on how scratch isn't all about populrity.

Actually, they work for some people, it requires luck. And what I was talking about with the "fussing" was during the argument.

Re: The usual guides don't work.

Some people start out famous, and some other people have to make there way up to famous. Like that new PROGRAMMING guy, but there are some # in there. Or like astro, he created his first project, and it got over 4,000 views.

But if you really want views, then try to find you hub. This means try to find a specific project type you like and create more projects about that type. I like art a lot, so I create art projects.

Re: The usual guides don't work.

Scratch was first created as an interactive program to share art, and there's nothing wrong with doing that now. Art takes skill to create, and it should be recognised if it's good art. So don't go complaining that art projects reach top viewed/loved, because most of the time they deserve to be there.

It may not have advanced scripts, but it is pretty awesome!  big_smile

And for the coloring contests, someone obviously had to draw it.

Re: The usual guides don't work.

Molybdenum, I'm pretty sure you've been told this before, but Scratch isn't about trying to become famous; it's about making cool projects and programming. It's also about animation and art to some extent, so you can't really argue with the front page. It reflects what the majority likes, and unfortunately geeks aren't the majority.  sad

I thought Astro had to work up the fame ladder, and his first project got viewed later.
