I'm going to be stabbed for saying this but I really don't have much of a problem with One Direction. You could really do a lot worse when looking for pop music. They're nice role models for young kids but I really do think they need to work on their songwriting.
Now, I'm not sure who writes their music (It's probably done by a computer XD) but they need to drift away from all the really obvious and predictable lyrics. The main problem with pop music is that the lyrics are so literal. The vocab used is so boring!

They're not actually that bad, it's just that my friends constantly talk about them. In fact, one of them just got the math parody of "What makes you beautiful' stuck in my head. So, yeah.

I have heard one of their songs, and it's not really that good. What's funny is that you can figure out who's the wannabe "popular" girls (since there really isn't popularity at my school) by who likes them. It's really funny, because everyone (including the teachers) make fun of them, and then two girls are screaming at the rest.

What I've noticed, is that all of these artists that (in my opinion, and almost everyone I know has the same opinion on this) suck, but have made it "big", have only appealed to the (pre-)teen girls, and only some. And so, if you want to be one of these "big" bands, all you need to do is get someone good with a sound-editing program, someone good with a video-editing program, about fifty teenage girls screaming in the background (pay them if you need to), and about 100 people to advertise it, and then you'll become "huge".

Agree completely. I don't listen to pop for that reason: they can't sing, they can't play an instrument (at least not in public), and they use the SAME STINKING AUTOTUNE BEATS for every song.

Where is the talent in that?

Here's another reason I don't like One Direction (or any pop band, for that matter): they sing about the SAME SUBJECT IN EVERY SONG. So do all the other 156 billion pop "bands" out there.

By the way, Beyonce is playing in the Super Bowl. I can't wait to laugh when it is announced that "Beyonce is going to rock the Super Bowl this year."

Here's what they need to say: "Beyonce is going to pop the Super Bowl this year."

There goes the audience, right out the window.
