@16Skittles You are very, very correct.  tongue  Another method, employed by the Frenchmen, is to use excess power to pump water upstream, so that the next day it is used when demand is high...  smile

@illusionist I never quite understoo this one. People talk about the "power of the free market" and how "government [should] stay out" (illusionist), but they never seem to link those arguments with, say the Great Depression (unregulated stock market destroys itself), or the banking crash, and how all of these stem directly from a lack of regulation. Why should government stay out, when the market can't seem to hold itself together?

I never understood the notion of the free market fixing everything either. They want money, not to reduce the costs of healthcare. Britain loves their national healthcare enough to put it in their Olympic opening ceremony. Don't even get me started on how Romney thinks it should be "state by state..."

Re: United States 2012 Presidential Election

Wow, what a great first debate!!  big_smile

I think both Obama and Romney made some good points, but I think it was a total win for Romney. He was cool and collected while presenting his points, and he answered everything fully. He also kept eye contact with Obama. Obama seemed very uncomfortable answering the questions and was staring aimlessly around, not looking at Romney or the people. He seemed uneasy, while Romney was full of vim and vigor.

Can't wait for the vice presidential debate on October 11th!!!  smile

Re: United States 2012 Presidential Election

soo....sources, people!

CNN's poll showed that 67% of responders said Romney won, and 25% said Obama won. I guess the rest were undecided...
As well, CNN is generally biased against Romney, yet they still showed this poll.

Today at school, homeroom was a big political debate. My homeroom teacher is a very stupid Republican, and there are only a few Democrats in my class. Yet, we still won.  smile

Oh dear, I hope you mean they are stupid and a republican, not that they are stupid because they are a republican...

Re: United States 2012 Presidential Election

I know this is Britain no the US, but at my school when we had some MPs come in and had a mock election it was this order:

Scottish Socialist Party
Green
Labour
Liberal Democrats
Conservatives

Also, does anyone know a way to see the debate online?

Well, that doesn't make sense. When he is speaking, it's not like he spells out "I believe in America COMMA...." It is just common sense that there would be a comma.....

I'm sure you'll see more interrupting in future debates, and not just from Romney, now that the heat is on.

"I believe in an America, where millions of Americans believe in an America, that's the America millions of Americans believe in. That's the America I love."
In other words:
"I believe in an America. Where millions of American believe in an America. That's the America millions of Americans believe in. That's the America I love."
It doesn't need commas!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Though sometimes he had good excuse to interrupt Obama. Obama kept accusing Romney of saying something he didn't.
