United States 2012 Presidential Election

The 2012 Presidential Election of the United States occurs in a mere 36 days, with President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney the main contenders. Though few Scratchers are old enough to vote, we can discuss which candidate truly deserves the Presidency. On November 6th, two-hundred-forty million potential United States voters have the chance to determine the next President of the United States of America!

... At least until the next election.  tongue

Who supports Mr. Obama, the pro-choice, homosexual-rights, Obamacare-creating, and modest-recovery-involved Democrat from Hawaii?

Who supports Gov. Romney, the pro-life, traditional-values, limited-government, tax-cutting, and regulation-slashing Republican from Michigan?

And if you don't mind, tell us whysmile

Political topics are not allowed. No matter how "moderated" you try and keep it, it will get out of hand and require to many mods to control.

Re: United States 2012 Presidential Election

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think politics are allowed to be discussed on Scratch because Scratch can't discuss anything without insulting eachother it's a controversial topic.

Re: United States 2012 Presidential Election

Sorry, but politics aren't allowed on Scratch because whenever they have been previously discussed they have always sparked unnecessary debating.

A good discussion but it's not allowed and it isn't as though most of us can vote anyway

Actually....the "No Political topics" was a rule from the old Misc forum.  That rule was intentionally left off the guidelines of this newer forum with the hope that maybe we could have a civil political discussion.  If people want to try it and see how it goes, we can leave it open.

I will take that sometime in the future even though it'll be meaningless by then because the election will be over

Re: United States 2012 Presidential Election

I try not to get too involved with politics, as America's meant to be the land of religious freedom, but everyone votes for the person who enforces their religious beliefs on everyone, so it's kinda pointless. I saw a post on Facebook saying "You're not a true Christian if you vote for Obama" because he legalized gay marraige, that's when I lost the will to keep up with this stuff.

I guess what I'm saying is and I'm trying not to bring religion into it, everyone wants to limit everyone else from doing what they want because of what they believe in, and it's getting to the point where certain people are trying their best to appeal to one group to get lots of votes, and for a country that promotes freedom I don't really see that as an option that'd make me feel free. People should just vote for the person who they feel will benefit the country positively, like fixing the economy, or fixing the obesity problem we're so frequently attached to, or fixing the education problems and not sit there and get worked up that somewhere in America gays are getting married.

I bet that if someone polled a ton of adults, like less than 20% would know that Jill Stein is even running.  hmm

This being, Jill Stein won't win this election. It'd be much smarter to vote for your next choice, one that you still agree on lots of things with but is one of the major competitors.

Re: United States 2012 Presidential Election

I remember some quote like "voting for the third vote is throwing your vote away"
I guess I kinda agree
Also I'd need to move to the US
But I don't agree with Mitt Romney on anything which I thought was cool  tongue
