Re: Minecraft Official Topic

Lighting bug has been sooo persistent since Alpha even.

For some reason, it transcends minor annoyance for me because of that. I am thanking all that is holy for having it removed.

Yes. Honestly, it's worse than the dreaded chunk errors. At least you get something good out of those :')

Those have lessened for me since very early Beta/late Alpha.

All Notch's credit goes to inventing the game, jeb far improved it.

You are saying necessary, but concept and the Alpha seem pretty dang necessary in creating something for Jeb to improve.

I honestly enjoyed the game more before Jeb became head developer (1.7.3, so he was working there but not lead).

but we all know you're a zealot for the sandbox openness of Alpha/Beta c:

there's now customizable superflat, an option to remove slimes, nice smooth lighting that makes stuff look better...  hmm  isn't that MORE sandbox openness than the old MC? It had its perks but I think those were far outweighed by its flaws.

i don't see why u guys hate so much

I like not having smooth lighting! I play the modern game without it!
And one tree is nice. Everything so CONSISTENT!

There aren't slimes in several versions of Alpha and Beta.

I don't want more things to build with. I want a Survival game that can still be relaxing enough to goof around with some building in.

The way it is today, I absolutely HATE the early-game because I have to do the idiotic animal farming to survive at all.

Customizable superflat is a way to play, more intended for creative mode. I don't want that. I want a survival game that I can be creative in.

Alpha and Beta are great for MY tastes. End of discussion, okay?

I will say though, generate structures = ON with Superflat and Hardcore mode is great when I feel like a challenge, though.

I'm not saying I'm on a side here, but I don't think you can very well complain about creative, since it's a completely optional and separate thing. It's like saying you don't like Minecraft anymore because another game also exists.

Oh yeah, I know. I was just saying Creative isn't a reason for me to want to play the newer version of the game. He was saying it sounds like it would be (because of the "sandbox openness"), and I was rebutting.

I'm hardly on a side either, just explaining what I enjoy playing. People have opinions and stuff I heard/

Re: Minecraft Official Topic

With this whole thing with Alpha/Beta vs Now, you can use mods called Nbxlite and Olddays to change certain aspects of the game to older ones, including world generation.

There IS a mod called BetterWorldGeneration and it adds the option to generate Alpha, Beta, survival island and skyland worlds!

I'm just building 2 pagodas (1 built) and a village with a dojo, market, and other things. The village will be in between the 2 pagodas, and i MIGHT build a big temple-like thing for the mayor.

That's your choice. Nbxlite and Olddays can let you keep some things from today, and change other things to the past, but that's your choice.

BetterWorldGeneration is different. These worlds aren't exactly as they were, they were changed it so it always generates tall grass, lapis, etc. BetterWorldGeneration is fun, but it isn't the same.
