Hey, I'm bobthejoe68! I'm a pretty good programmer in Scratch (at least I think so, and people who look at my games think so) and I would love to review your games! If you want a game to be reviewed, simply click here, and tell me the game to review! Be sure to tell me if the game is on a different account or something. I am not trying to be mean if I give your game a bad score. Remember, I'm a critic, so if you want a score from me, go ahead and ask! big_smile

~Rating Scale~

-Completion-
10 - Completion
5 - Nearing Completion
0 - No Where Near Being Done

-Gameplay-
10 - Controls are very smooth, everything works accordingly.
5 - Pretty well done, however, controls may be jerky, or not work at times.
0 - Controls and Other Features are a complete mess, and is nearing being unplayable.

-Graphics-
10 - Very detailed, and overall looks great.
5 - I can tell effort was put into this, but that much.
0 - Graphics are overall horrible, solid colors, and don't match the feel of the game.

-Sound-
10 - There is music, and sounds that fit well into the game.
5 - Music is there, but doesn't quite seem to fit the game, or is just annoying.
0 - Low quality music, no sounds, or no music at all.
-5 - R.I.P. Headphone Users

-Originality-
10 - Wow, this game is unlike anything I've ever seen on Scratch, well done!
5 - This is pretty original, but some/most aspects seem like they are in other games.
0 - This game is made by the user, but almost seems like a copy of another game.
-5 - A Carbon-Copy Remix, with no credit given to the original founder.

-Replay Value-
10 - I wanna play this again, it never gets old!
5 - It's pretty good, but I get bored playing it twice.
0 - This game is boring from the start, leading to no replay value what-so-ever.

-Community-
10 - Creator is active in the community, and comments.
5 - Creator doesn't comment or anything.
0 - Creator puts down other users, and is a negative influence in the community.

-Interface-
10 - Easy to use, no problems
5 - A bit of problems, took me a while to figure out.
0 - Took me longer to figure out the interface than beat the game.

-Overall-
20 - This game deserves to be famous, it's really good!
10 - This game has some good ideas, but needs a bit of a push forward to be great.
0 - There is no hope for this game. At all.

~Scoring~
90-100 = This game is PERFECT! It is overall really epic, and I would love to see a sequel!
60-89 = This game is pretty good! It just needs a few fixes, and it can be great!
40-59 = This game is far from being great, but if the creator really gets on it, it can be good.
10-39 = This game is almost not even a game. It looks like it was made in less than 5 minutes.
Under 10 = This game is the worst game I've ever seen. Either it's not even a game, or it is unplayable it's so bad.

btw what if you don't know a scratcher that well, where does community come into that? real reviewers don't base games on their creator's attitudes (they may comment about it, but it would have nothing to do with the score) so why does this?

~Toad Eats A Banana (Or Two...)~

This game caught my eye from the very start from its intriguing graphics, how the creator interacted with his/her viewers, and the game play. Toad Eats A Banana (Or Two...) is an app-like game, that can get really addicting. So without further ado, the review!

Completion = 10/10
This game is complete, and seems like a lot of effort was put into the release.

Gameplay = 8/10
This game has very good controls, but the bananas always seem to take the same path. It would be fun to have bananas coming from everywhere, kind of like a frenzy, to dodge the flies, and catch the flying bananas! The flies are truly difficult to dodge, and have a very good random path engine.

Graphics = 9/10
The graphics fro this game on the main menu and instructions screen are absolutely great. The only thing holding this back from a 10 would be the toad in-game, the launcher in-game, and the flies in-game. Other than that, the graphics are great!

Sound = 8.5/10
The sound is great, in game. It fits the feel of frenzied fun in the swamp. My problem is that it seems to repeat on and on, and there is no music for the title screen or instruction screen.

Originality = 9/10
This uses an engine of another project, but otherwise, I have never seen anything like this is Scratch. Well Done!

Replay Value = 10/10
Games like these are just built to be played over and over. It's great, because you want to beat others scores, and beat your own scores. That kept bringing me back over and over!

Community = 10/10
The creator replies to all his comments, and is friendly! That's what I like to see in a creator!

Interface = 9.5/10
No problems here! Very Easy to use, but the tastiness bar sometimes got a little messed up, where I couldn't tell what I had left.

Overall = 17/20
This game is pretty good, but I feel it doesn't have enough in it to be famous. Maybe a shop could be added to continue the replay value, and some extra enemies or special bananas.

The gameplay is great! For beginners to these kinds of games, there is a tutorial, and lots of notes to read! I found it easy to control, but a little complicated. I really love how HUGE the landscape you can build on is! It's really epic! This game's gameplay is top notch! It seems like this game could be put on a console!

Graphics = 9/10
The graphics for this game are pretty nice, but at times seem a bit jumbled. No matter, since the rest of the game is top notch! I hope for his next game, he puts a but extra effort into the graphics. Some gradients would be nice.

Sound = 9.5/10
The music is fun, sounds like Sim city! Unlike most games, this game has sounds when you click things/build things! I found the sounds and music of this game to be soothing, and actually helped my experience!

Originality = 10/10
This game takes originality to the max. On Scratch, I have never seen a building game with so much content, with so many things to do! Though I have seen games such as this on consoles, this is the first I have seen on Scratch!

Replay Value = 10/10
The replay value on this game is insane! You can rebuild your whole town, or just destroy it all. You can add nature, you can add buildings, you can add multiple towns! There's just so much to do, and so much things to build!

Community = 10/10
The creator replies nicely to all comments, and very intertwined with the community. This is an easy 10!

Interface = 9/10
I found the interface to seem a bit jumbled at times, but otherwise it is amazing! There is a tag next to your mouse that lets you know what your mouse is over, making it so you are never confused! The interface works well with how much stuff there is to do.

Overall = 19/20
This game is an inch from being the best game on scratch! If the graphics were made more clean, and the interface made less jumbled, I would give this a 20!

~Final Score~
96/100
This game is absolutely amazing. With a few tweaks, this game could be the best on Scratch! A sequel might be at hand also. Extremely well done! smile

thanks! by the way, there is a sequel! as soon as Scratch 2.0 comes out- Generation: Global is goanna get created! Basically it will feature five different countries (Egypt, China, Ireland, Spain and France) and in one huge campaign you must improve cities across the globe. Tourism will have a larger play, at the moment it merely brings in extra income but I will make it integrate with hospital and jail capacities among other things.

In response:

As to the bananas path they were originally done like that because I'd never tried to code arcs before and wanted to try it...I might try seeing if I could add some new stuff to it or maybe having continued existence of the bananas once launched with a limit set to the number on screen to improve this.

To the sound...I had difficulty finding a song that fit the game at all and that was the only one I really found; possibly I could add another song or two overall. The start screen is indeed missing music and that is something I will try to resolve.

And finally as to the tastiness bar in the interface...I think I know what you're referring to and I'm considering changing the way it works so that if you touch a fly you can't eat a banana as otherwise it can get slightly confusing; particularly as it doesn't work that way when you are down to one health.

I'm glad that overall you liked the game and I'll see if I can fix the things you mentioned and add in some new stuff to improve the gameplay experience and replay value.

This game made me want to play it simply from the cover of it, and how great it sounded from the comments. Let's see how it ranks up!

Completion = 10/10
This game is complete, and the creator says a sequel is even in the making!

Gameplay = 9/10
This game has very good physics, and controls. Everything seems to work great, and feel great in regard to controls. The game looks really good, and I really love the glowing effect. Only thing I would change is the exit gate should change where it is, not just stay in the same place.

Graphics = 9/10
The graphics for this are very good. This is a dark game, but that doesn't matter, for everything else looks amazing. The glow around the main character looks really good, and the glow around the exit does too. The only thing I would change is maybe the look of the main character, he looks too plain.

Sound = 8.5/10
This game has no sound, but I gave it an 8 because of how astonishing every thing else is. In a dark game like this, is kind of seems like no music is fitting.

Originality = 10/10
I haven't seen any game before with this concept of finding the walls with a glow. This idea is interpreted well, and is really nice.

Replay Value = 9.5/10
This is a long enough game to be played over and over, and for an added bonus, there are codes that make the game even more fun!

Community = 10/10
The creator replies to all comments, and is friendly about it.

Interface = 10/10
There isn't really an interface, and the main menu works just as it should, so this is an easy 10!

Overall = 19/20
This game is very good, and it's left me waiting for the sequel! It has great graphics, fun gameplay, good replay value, and is just overall fun!
