Woo hoo! I'll have to double-check the book, but if I remember correctly, it was sometime in late September.
Frodo's like a gazilion years old today...
And Bilbo's probably dead.
But oh well, because yesterday was their birthday, it doesn't really matter.

So is Frodo, actually. According to Tolkien, Frodo came back from the Undying Lands some time later and spent his last years with Sam.
Fun fact: Tolkien's gravestone reads 'John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, Beren' and his wife's 'Edith Mary Tolkien, Lúthien.'

Was that in the appendices? I'll have to check them again. According to the timeline Sam got a boat and sailed for the Gray Havens on his own, but I could be wrong.

witchartix - I'll have to check. I know Frodo left with the elves, but I'm not sure about Sam.

Sam didn't go. He went back to Hobbiton to meet that girl he was talking about and then they married.

She died eventually, though, and having been a Ring-bearer he lived a lot longer.
