Glopp RPG

Hey everyone, I'm new to scratch and I decided to make a 2D RPG game about this slime thing named Glopp who was created when a nuclear explosion went off in the middle of a large city. The enemies will be robots and mutated teddy bears and there'll be lots of maps and walls that fade when you go behind em. I'll be working on it, but it is exam time here so I probably won't get a lot done. Glopp will also have many different forms including a wall form and a balloon form.  I might need some help so if some of you guys can give me advice on some of the glitches I've found, it'd be appreciated.

Hmm. I'd love to see this done! You have a great idea here, and I would love to help if I can. Just let me know if you run into any problems.  smile

Re: Glopp RPG

Yeah I explained about this earlier: when you go behind walls, they fade. It's actually when your touching a wall, they go to the front in terms of layers, and they set ghost mode to 15 or 20. On the background is a marker of sorts that is colored black and becomes a certain color when the wall or object Glopp has to go behind fades. This color is what bounces Glopp backwards so it can't go through walls. However, when Glopp goes underneath the walls, when it goes near them instead of showing up in front of them, it goes behind them and the wall fades. I've got some idea of how to fix this with an 'if x of Glopp is lower than x of glopp:' if statement but it won't work for some reason. You can see it in my Glopp Demo 2 project with the blue walls.

Re: Glopp RPG

Ok If anyone wants to see the latest version, come to my projects. I've added the wall mode and nearly fixed the invisible walls glitch. I'll upload it in 15 minutes (current time 11:00pm). I just need to touch up a few things and as you may have been aware of, my graphics suck since they're all made on paint (sadly this computer that I'm on doesn't have anything else except Photoshop but how the heck would I use that for this?) Ps. I'm not sure about the double-posting rule in this forum but I've got no one else to post between my posts so I'm sure it wouldn't apply.

Re: Glopp RPG

Glopp Demo 3 is out. It has screaming people. The guy with the yellow and black shoes is a character I made before I found scratch, and I'll use it again in the future probably. The other 2 are just random people I made. I'll make it so they run away from you in the next update, and does anyone have any ideas that I can put in the game?

Re: Glopp RPG

Ok I need someone to tell me if this would be a good way of using the hazmat guys:
they have 8 costumes: walking around in all directions. there's this big [hidden] circle around them. if Glopp comes into the circle: they chase after him at a lower speed than it of course, and if one of the hazmat guys' circle is touching the other guy's the other guy will chase after glopp aswell. if glopp gets out of the cricle, a broadcast called 'out of range or sumthing will be played, calling them both off. also if a scared citizen walks away from glopp into the circle, after 3 seconds it'll broadcast something called 'help' which will also set off the hazmat guys for 5 seconds after they recieve the help signal and they won't have to have glopp in reach until the 5 seconds are up, meaning after 5 seconds of not getting glopp in range, they will stop chasing him. the point of the levels with the hazmat guys will be to trap the citizens in a remote area (as they do not wander around like the hazmat guys and they run away from you for 10 steps at 1.5 seconds per step).

another hopefully fun feature i'm making is that the humans you capture can be made into 'mini-glopps', different shaped slimes that you can take control of and distract the hazmat guys for 1 minute whenever they touch one. of course if they touch the real glopp, it'll be game over. i'll also add the feature of exploding (with a charge up) where glopp changes into a lighter green color and after he changes color 2 time you can push 'x' to explode him. there'll be a sensor circle around glopp which'll activate when you have the requirements 'explosion mode3' and 'if x is pushed' and it'll change into a graphic of an explosion which has a color that'll make citizens and hazmat guys unable to move for one minute.

as you can see i've put a lot of though into making the game, but the backgrounds are way too boring so I gotta fix em up before I rlease the game. At first there'll probably only be 3 levels where you learn the controls, you trap citizens and you fight the evil giant teddy bears (which there's a teddy bear mode for glopp already made, check out Magnie's Glopp Demo 4 which they used to fix the walls thing in my 3rd demo.)
the teddy bear mode will be for sneaking past the teddy bears cuz their censor bar is like the hazmat guys except larger, and they move way faster then you, but you turn invisible to them when you activate teddy bear mode (though it only lasts for 10 seconds and there'll be a 5 second waiting time to use it again, but there'll also be hiding spots where the bears can't go because they bounce off the edge when their sensor touches it, unless the sensor spots you, so they can't go near you.)

wow i typed a lot, and hopefully someone will read all of it and tell me what they think.

Edit: Oh yeah and in future updates, there'll be more levels and more enemies to come (robots, the Royal Earth Defence Forces or REDF, who are tricked out hazmat guys, and more evil teddy bears) and if someone could please tell me how I could post sprites on here, I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Glopp RPG

Sweet I'll post up any new sprites I make in the morning. Well actually I'll do it in the afternoon. I got a culminating project due for my architecture class, and a history exam. But by the 15th I'm done with school for summer.

Re: Glopp RPG

You mean like deviantart or photobucket? I guess I'll just get my brother to do that stuff cuz i'm not really into those sites.

Edit: Well my bro was unusually cooperative and he put the stuff on right away, instead of a week like that one time. Here it is: http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww129/Ultratronbot/glopp.jpg

Re: Glopp RPG

Ok, everyone see that bear in the corner? I have all it's walking sprites but I'm not sure how to incorporate em into the game. Also does anyone have any new ideas for Glopp Modes? There's currently 5: Normal, Wall, Balloon, Bear, and Flat (and also the 3 trigger explosion mode in the picture above). Normal Mode is for walking around. Wall Mode fits into a piece of wall that's been taken out, like a key card of sorts. Balloon Mode will be changed to 'if standing on Air Duct:' instead of pushing 'b' as it will be used to float over water lines that you can't cross. You need to push a button to turn on the Duct and if you don't stand on it within 10 seconds, it'll turn off. Also Balloon Mode only lasts for 10 seconds. Bear Mode will be a fully walkable mode (meaning that unlike the Wall Mode, you'll be able to move around, Balloon Mode will also have this function. Well most of Glopp's forms will have this function.) that will be used to sneak past an Evil Teddy Bear's sensors. Flat Mode is unavailable yet, but it'll be for slipping under cracks in the wall, or something like that. The 2 explosion Modes will be used for activating a mini nuclear explosion (as you are a nuclear slime). You'll be able to activate them by charging, or by collecting a Glopp Token, I haven't decided yet. And lastly, I forgot to mention this feature in the listing, and I'm too lazy to fix it now, and I've talked about it before in a previous post: the Humans you 'capture' will have the ability to become mini-Glopps that can be taken control over like a mode, to be used as decoys for the Evil Teddy Bears or the R.E.D.F. Also I might add the ability for the mini-glopps to explode (without them being destroyed as well otherwise it'd be useless to add this) but the stun will be several times shorter and the range won't reach as far either as the Normal Glopp.

Edit: I'd like to give thanks to Frogger for putting this word in my head, which gave me an idea. Sinkhole Mode (not really a mode cuz it'll be another sprite with Glopp in it while Glopp becomes hidden). It'll be a two-part broadcast, duo-sprite system that'll allow Glopp to teleport around the level: A sink hole, and a shower cap (which might seem strange in the sewers but it'll fit in, trust me  smile  ). When Glopp goes over the sink hole and pushes 's' or something, it'll broadcast 'sinkhole mode' which will make Glopp Hidden for 4 seconds and it'll go under the shower cap. Meanwhile the sinkhole is cycling through costumes of Glopp being sucked down into it, which'll broadcast 'sinkhole mode 2' to the shower cap, which'll then cycle through it's own costumes which include Glopp dripping out and getting up (where the cycle will stop and the real glopp will reappear). I guess I should also make a reverse version of this so Glopp can go back to where he came from. I'm a genius!

Edit Again: w00t I finally got the banner finished (meaning I finally got around to making a banner)! Everyone behold it's awsomeness:

I actually just got very lazy with the O

Re: Glopp RPG

New modes added: Boiling Mode - if touching something that broadcasts Hot if touching glopp, Glopp becomes boiling mode.

Steam Mode - if touching something that broadcasts hot if touching glopp for over 15 seconds, Glopp becomes a green cloud instead of a red version of glopp.

Mini-Glopp mode - if touching a river of 'glopp' then the river will disappear for a while and Glopp will be able to use 'mini-glopp mode' which lets you control a mini-glopp that can access places the big glopp can't. Mini-glopp only dies if it touches the real Glopp, or if it touches an enemy. Evil Teddy Bears can't detect mini glopp, but Hazmat guys can sense it if it gets too close (the radar around them will shrink by a lot so you can sneak past them). The little glopp, however, can't absorb people and make them into Glopp decoys.

Glopp Decoy mode - Sort of like mini-glopp mode, except they're very slow and can't interact with anything. These are people who have been transformed into glopps. If a hazmat guy finds them, it'll take him 30 seconds to change the guy back into a human, making it so you can get past them.

There are other modes I made but I can't remember them because I lost this sheet of paper that I drew them on.
