^This, pretty much. So all the helpful (and not so helpful) posts from the old Scratch Forum will not be gone.
As for the forum post count issue: If the main problem here is about keeping the forum post count, then you guys want to rethink the reason for posting on the Scratch forums in the first place. The forums are supposed to be a place where users can talk about Scratch and for Scratchers to talk about things they make or enjoy outside of Scratch. There's no reason to be obsessed at getting the forum post count to a high number, or, in the case of the upcoming Scratch 2.0 forums, being overly upset from restarting the post count from zero.
So we won't be able to answer any old topics?

I don't want to be a New Scratcher again.

Why would you become a New Scratcher again if you're already a Scratcher?

I thought you had to be a Scratcher if you had at least one forum post.
And would it "re-register" us, so that I would be registered again when I first entered the forums, or would it keep me registered on 24/11/11?

Not necessarily. Since the old ones will be archived, you could just give a link to the old topic in the first post when posting in the new Scratch 2.0 forums so everyone would know what the old topic is.
I would imagine that to be a very rare occurrence, though. There aren't that many cases of relevant necroposting.

The registration date is based on whatever is in the database, so the date should remain the same.

Oh. Wait, did I register on that day or join the forums on that day?

The date that appears on the forums right now is the forum registration date. The one that will appear in the Scratch 2.0 forums will be the date that you officially joined the Scratch website.

One plus side of the new forums, thankfully...

As far as I know, no posts will be transferred to the new Scratch 2.0 forums.

My thoughts exactly, and this applies to the TBGs too.
I don't get what so exciting about having a high post count. I really think they ought to get rid of it altogether, but it's kinda useful sometimes.

So we'll keep our post count?
For here, but over there we start from 0.
It's just sad. D:

I think if the old forums are archived, new forums will be a nice, fresh start

You bring up a good point, cheddargirl, in that many Scratchers are obsessed with having a high post count because they see it as a "status symbol".
However, in my opinion the registration date and post count both serve as an essential way of identifying the level of experience of a Scratcher never seen before. New users, especially, when asking a question about Scratch will regard answers from users with a higher post count more valuable than those from scratchers with fewer posts.
I believe you should rethink the decision of zeroing all post counts in the transition to the new system: does it really give more benefits than losses?

A reset of post counts could turn out to create a more up to date identification of an experienced scratcher. Also, there is planned a 'Experienced Scratcher' or similar title

Well, in that case, it's fine

And the shortened wait time between posts.
