Phobia Trouble... Any help? <:(

First off, can I have this moved to Misc?

Ok, so onto the topic:

I have a severe form of pyrophobia, but it's a weird type: I'm afraid to see things melt/burn.

You see, I discovered that I had it way back in kindergarden while watching CatCF in a darkened room. The melting puppets scared me to the point where I ran screaming from the room, and to this day I have to leave the room when it comes on. I will literally become a trembling, shaking mess when it starts, I run into the bathroom, cover my ears and close my eyes, and lock the door. This gets a lot of negative response from everyone around me when it happens.

Another example was when I was at Shaigirl343's birthday slumber party back in 2009. We were surfing youtube for weird videos. One of the girls pulled up a video called "Exploding Elmo Toy", and I became a terrified wreck. I tried to get away and avoid it, but the volume was blasting, and the screen was exposed. This led to the girls watching ENDLESS streams of toys burning, melting, and exploding. They were entertained, but I was terrified.

Even seeing pictures of burned toys/dolls/robots/etc sends me into a panic.

I also seem to become shakey and scared whenever I hear music/sounds becoming deeper, slower, and distorted. Just hearing the "Smooth Jazz" music short out in Portal 2 made me shakey for minutes on end. Same with low-battery toys.

It's a very embarassing phobia, and I hate having to leave the room like a little kid and curl up scared in the bathroom whenever these sort of things are present. Everyone is confused and upset when I have to exit the room. What do I do?

I've tried overcoming my fear many times, but it just doesn't work. Any suggestions? Or at least a way to escape from it all without making a fuss? It would help me a lot!

no
please let the sleeping miscellaneous forum go forever untouched or my sense of well being and hope for the scratch community may very well be completely disintegrated

ok so now i read the topic and being disturbed by melting puppets and stuff doesnt sound that weird a phobia imo. i mean dolls and puppets and sometimes robots are humanoid things and humanoid shapes can be easily associated with humans, therefore meaning that your brain could make a connection between burning dolls and burning people and scare you to the point of tears

Sounds more like you're afraid of things you can identify as having human or living qualities be burned.

Like, would you care if a burned a fire in my backyard on night?

Because if it's the former, you might just want to try and separate your feelings for actual things, with things you know are fake.

No, Miscellaneous was closed for a reason.

In fact, trying to use the Scratch Forums for talking about topics that fall outside the scope of the given section is not okay; asking for help on the internet for serious topics can be even more troublesome since you can't quite trust the advice you are given over the internet. It sounds like you need some kind of help, but you really ought to talk with a trusted adult (like a parent or guardian) about your phobia trouble, not here.
