If you haven'y heard of it, Chunky is an application which lets one render Minecraft scenes in 3d, using any texture pack. Google it!
It includes the default texture pack. It doesn't include a skymap, but you can load that. It renders incrementally with great detail. It's not extremely efficient and makes laptops get really hot!
I'm not good at using it though...
Note: Renders of maps you made would be awesome!

Yeah, the only downside is you have to add the textures and alpha channls oone by one into it
