Mods still act like normal people?

(Yes, I know, the title's fairly stupid. And to be honest, the question is also almost on the same level of silliness  tongue )

So, most of the time, it seems that forum mods only appear in a thread to ask someone not to spam, not to flame, et cetera, and I've only seen a few select mods post anything that is more casual than "Closed by request", and it's still quite rare. Don't mods like to participate in collaborations, or have a signature shop, or do something besides patrol the forums? (Not that it's a bad thing). Is there something about being a mod that by doing one of those kinds of things, you're somehow unfairly boosting that certain activity? (don't ask what I mean by that; I myself am not totally sure :P)

It'd be extra helpful if I could get an answer from a current or former mod, as they would know firsthand.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Mods still act like normal people?

I believe they do. Haroku (I think that's how you spell it) answered on one of my first topics, and if you poke around in MaC and RaP, then you will find some.

Who would win, SOPA or PIPA?

Re: Mods still act like normal people?

I think they do; I've definitely seen sparks post around in the ATs, cheddargirl, Lucario, and Sci posting on threads in MaC and RaP, and other instances. They do kind of have their hands full with moderating, though.

Exactly. It's hard for them to juggle moderating tasks, as well as taking part in community discussions. They still do it quite a bit though  smile

That, or sometimes there isn't much to say. I don't post much if there isn't a topic I'm interested in; chances are that the same be said of any moderator, or even any Scratcher in general.

I try not to let being a moderator remove from my forum pleasures; i still like to talk and help, as well as moderate.

Re: Mods still act like normal people?

Harakou and Sci are the only ones that regularly post in non-Scratch topics, I find

Moderating probably takes up way more time than it sounds like it does though, and besides, they're not obliged to post

Re: Mods still act like normal people?

I've seen many mods act casual, I bet plenty of us have seen Lightnin make some casual non-moddy topics too.  tongue
