Season 1 was where all the swear words were. But I guess Cartoon Network said they had to tone it down or something.

Yeah.

Season 1: Cussy and raunchy
Season 2: A bit calmed down
Season 3: Toned down alot, but still epic.

Regular Show is my favorite show on TV right now.

I heard CN cut out all the swear words of season 1....

Regular Show is my favorite show on Cartoon Network, next to Adventure Time. But I thought I heard swears last time I watched it. Maybe they cut it out after.

Yeah.

I personally find it really stupid when people are like "OH MAH GAWD DON'T WATCH THEES EET HAHS BAHD REFRREENCES FER CEELDREEN"

They won't even notice any adult humor!

PG now is pretty much code for made for kids but a character might die. PG used to be made for somewhat more mature audiences, and be able to carry more objectionable content, before the creation of a PG-13 rating. This is why you have Indiana Jones at PG for its movies, technically having the same score as Up!.

Because PG used to be considered a more mature rating, E.T. slipped in an inappropriate line so people would take it more serious than a G movie.

"IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THAT, [insert word for male genitalia here] BREATH!"

lol  That line made the movie PG. That and a few bad words scattered here and there.

It's also funny how a LOT of 80s and 70s movie are PG when they really should be PG-13. I know that the rating wasn't invented yet at the time, but still, the MPAA should rerate movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, and Ghostbusters to PG-13. I mean, Ghostbusters is a total PG-13 movie, yet it's still PG. Don't get me wrong though, I love that movie.

Anyways guys, this topic isn't exactly for why movies are rated what they are.  tongue  It's about subtle humor that goes over kid's heads,

Ratings are relevant to the subject at hand.

And you mention Raiders but not Temple of Doom? The one where they RIP HUMAN HEARTS OUT while the victim is alive?

The most outrageous one IMO is that War of the Worlds is G. I mean, the whole human race is just about wiped out, you see hundreds if not thousands of people die, and some really creepy scenes. Most definitely not suitable for 4-year olds.

Re: Hidden Humor In Children's Entertainment

I have a theory that they go back and add these kinds of things after creating the majority of the movie. It makes adults more likely to like the movie and most kids don't get the references anyways, so the ratings aren't jacked way up because of them.

However, beyond a casual joke, I don't think most of them are appropriate; save 'em for the adult movies.  tongue
