I mean, Ghostbusters is a total PG-13 movie, yet it's still PG. Don't get me wrong though, I love that movie.

Anyways guys, this topic isn't exactly for why movies are rated what they are.    It's about subtle humor that goes over kid's heads,

Ratings are relevant to the subject at hand.

And you mention Raiders but not Temple of Doom? The one where they RIP HUMAN HEARTS OUT while the victim is alive?

Yeah, Temple of Doom, I know, but you know what I mean. Actually, I really hated that one. First off, WAYYYY too many Indian stereotypes. -.-

Because she's naked, it was an obvious joke.

One I like from MLP which isn't really rude or adultish in any way but something adults are more likely to get is that in once scene Twlight wants to speak to everyone so she stands on a soapbox, can't remember the episode though.

I notice more and more of this stuff as I watch childhood movies n stuff over again but I cant think of any specific examples off the top of my head.

Yes, I find this mildly funny.
As to what cheddargirl was saying:
It's interesting when I watch movies from the 80s to 90s, because we'll see a movie rated PG and think it's good for the whole family to watch. But usually it has a lot of right out language or imagery. Which I'm fine with, but not for a 4 year old. 

But then I think, PG stands for Parental Guidance. That actually makes since. Nowadays, PG pretty much means 'for kids' from what I've seen. Rarely do you see a G rated movie.    But back in the day, they actually used the ratings correctly.

It' just so much happier
I can't really explain
It's just happy
It helps that it also has a nice narrative
But its main draw is happiness

I did see, quite literally, two seconds of it once. I observed that... it... uh... has nice animation? Yeah, it kind of does.

But really, there are less girly things that are pleasant. Like octonauts. 

The first season of Regular Show was pretty raunchy.
