I am very excited for Scratch 2.0, because I feel it will lots more freedom than the other ones. And this is my suggestion. I think we should make variables and text a lot easier to use. What do I mean by this? First of all, have you ever made an 8-bit themed game, and had big orange variables ruin the vibe? Have you ever took hours to turn the variable in to text? I'll tell you, it's incredibly hard. I was thinking that variables could become just text. That way, it would make everything easier. Thank you for yout time.

i agree that there should be some sort of simpler way because new users are often incapable of creating such script on their own. i see no reason to hamper the graphics of new user's projects with poor and restrictive variable displays
that being said, its very easy to find out how to make a typing script if you know where to look.

I feel it's simpler to do bars/costume based variables. It looks nice and a lot of 8-Bit style games use them (like Mega Man, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, etc)
