Well, the icons are square, so it'd be weird to have to scale them or something. It's all about having things uniform. Anyway... what do you think of the new nano? I preferred the older one

Despite what people are saying about Apple not using standard Micro USB cables but still using proprietry cables, I think it's better that way. For the rest of the new iPhone features, the bigger screen is cool, but all the other features are either expected or long overdue. The iTouch was just upgraded to a 4S minus cellular radio, and no one really cares about the Nano anymore. 

It's easy to sit back and say you don't like change; I don't like change either. But the new connector is the future and it's not for money. The new connected is better and I think it's important to remember that you have to be willing to change things to advance in technology. Yes it will be a bit of a pain to start with, but in a short period of time it will have a positive effect.

No, I'm getting tired of the suing from Apple and everybody else; besides Nokia's design there sucks.

The biggest thing is the three buttons at the bottom; not simple, not easy to use and not as innovative.

I just don't like those stupid touch buttons, and I'm relieved Apple didn't use it for their home buttons. They have absolutely no feedback like a real button, and when the system freezes, those buttons stop working. Just stupid.

I have no problem with change. If it wasn't for change, we would still be cavemen. But what I do have a problem with is change that isn't for the better. If the new connector protocol had any faster transfer (it doesn't/won't, despite what Apple says), for example, it may be worth it. But it is still USB signals, like the old one (though Apple probably will make a Thunderbolt version).

Which brings up another problem: it is just another USB connector. The more kinds of connectors (with no/little difference between them) there are on the market, the more the market is segmented. It also means that consumers have to spend more money on more kinds of cables. Also, it bad for the environment (more cables = more trash in landfills).

Imagine if all the devices in the world used just one universal connector (doesn't have to be microUSB, but it is the most likely candidate). No market segmentation, more money in consumer's pockets, and less dead cables in landfill.

This is why the Lightning connector is bad for everybody.


@jj: Yes, touch buttons suck. They look cool, but are more trouble than they are worth. Just like the lightning connector.

To me, it looks like it could be easily snapped, but that is up to opinion I guess.

More devices could use the lightning connector, if Apple wouldn't charge them up the wazoo for the rights to. But since companies don't want to pay alot to use a connector that doesn't have any real advantages except being flippable, they will stick with MicroUSB.

Me too, but not everyone has the money to design and produce their own connector.
