will not step

I downloaded scratch on windows vista and linux .  If I drag over a move 10 steps block and click on It ,  The cat will not step out 10 steps it will move only a fraction of a step.  If  I  click  background  and put   blue  rectangle across the bottom  of my project  I can  not get any blue motion blocks. I get a message  the stage is set. does anybody have any ideas.  thanks                John 17312  ps excuse the spelling

Re: will not step

Well, the

move (10) steps
moves the sprite 10 pixels in the direction it's facing.
For the stage: the stage is the background, and since there is nothing behind the background, the background can't move. Which is why there are less blocks for the stage than for sprites.

Re: will not step

Exactly, I got a bit confused when I first started. It doesn't actually mean steps like in the normal world. As he said it just mean forward 10 pixels.
