Only a 15".

It'll be pricey, however.

More pricey then the 15"?

And what by Apple isn't pricey/overpriced

Re: Apple Special Event: September 12th

Less pricey than the 15", but more than the normal Macbook Pro.

Also, all of Apple's Macs, especially the 27" iMacs are very good value.

My iPod 2nd Gen is still alive.

Although, it is dead  because I haven't charged it in a while.

Planned obsolescence is just adding new features or making something the "cool" thing to get, not intentionally breaking older devices.

Like the Ipad, when they first released it they had purposefully planned to not add a camera, then they added it with the Ipad 2, and then with the Ipad 3, they changed it so that it would have "retina display" (and I saw no difference in the camera quality by the way)

The camera was added due to popular demand. There was not enough time or adequate technology to makes retina display either. Most mobile cameras are similar, and better ones are only by a margin.

Re: Apple Special Event: September 12th

Man, planned obsolescence is annoying. I just got an iPod touch, and before you know it they're going to stop supporting it because of the new one. Already the 3G can't upgrade to iOS 6. How long until my 4G becomes obsolete?

Re: Apple Special Event: September 12th

It's been released!

iOS6
iPhone 5
iPod Touch 5G
iPod Nano Redesign
Lightning dock

Despite what people are saying about Apple not using standard Micro USB cables but still using proprietry cables, I think it's better that way. The Lightning dock is like the magsafe cable, and I can just imagine it sliding seamlessly into a iDevice. Micro A/B cables however, are not smooth, they get caught, get bent, get stuck, often get broken and are definitely not right for the overall experience of iPhones and other iDevices.  smile

I think the new connector will cause a whole lot of headaches for people. They will spend $50 on a dock (or whatever you want to imagine the iDevice plugged in), only to find that their brand new device won't fit.

Of course, Apple will be more than happy to fix that by selling adapters, while making more money in the process.

And only the cheap microUSB cables that come with stuff break and get stuck.  wink

For the rest of the new iPhone features, the bigger screen is cool, but all the other features are either expected or long overdue. The iTouch was just upgraded to a 4S minus cellular radio, and no one really cares about the Nano anymore.  tongue

My cable I bought from eBay broke (Micro-B) within a month from regular usage. My AC adaptor gets stuck and jammed easily.

I'd rather pay extra for a product that actually works  tongue

And actually, I very much like both the touch and the nano, the touch is a very desirable product to me, and although I liked the previous generation nano better (only because it can be used as a 'smartwatch') I can see the current nano being popular, especially at the lower prices  smile

Well like
most people don't get stuff they want to rely on from ebay.
monoprice.com

And the screen is still too small!

Maybe they do, but that doesn't mean I can't disagree with them. I see no reason why there should be a 0.2 difference of the standard 16:9 ratio.

That cable was probably one they got packaged with a cheap cell phone.

And what kind of "research" do you mean? I don't see them doing any research, just telling everyone they need their latest product, because they are Apple. People worship them. If people can break out of the hypnosis, they will see that there are vastly superior devices out there for lower prices.

I probably just derailed this topic....  tongue

It's to fit the iOS better, so that icons fit perfectly, etc.

@fire219: They did research for example, on touch screen macbooks, and found that touch screens on vertical surfaces just don't work.  tongue

And they couldn't modify it just slightly so that it'd be 16:9? That's dumb, then.
