They can be worth quite a bit of money.
For instance, my bro bought one for 1$ and sold it for 40$
(It was a super treasure hunt)
In other words it was VERY rare.

I don't collect them, but I do have a bunch of them. I probably have around 100, one from the 80s and another from the 70s. Both are in bad condition though, so I don't think I could make much money off them.

I used to have a pretty big collection - but it was definitely a "hands on" collection and most of them got pretty beat up. I'm sure they aren't worth anything now - but I sure had fun 
By the way - collections seemed like a better fit for the Reading and Playing forum so I moved this topic there.

I collected them years ago and I still have them. I must have about 30. About half are matchbox cars though and I prefer them. My favourite would be a red Nissan GTR I have. A friend bought it for me from the US of A months before it was released in Australia.

Me and my brother have this Hotwheels launcher and so we make teams and then give points to the farthest runs, and I have like 40 that we use and like 30 that we don't use.

I have a ton of hot wheels. Over 100 I think. All inherited. I have one track and I only used the cars as action figures/role playing stuff when I was a kid. Not as they were built for.
