As said by the ST, the TBG forums will be taken down when Scratch 2.0 comes out, but why can't WE, the scratch community, group together and recreate it?
As many have said, the TBG forums are like their best friend, but soon their best friend will be ripped away from them. I personally only discovered the TBG forums 4 days ago, but now I visit it every day. There will be many heart breaks and many scratchers will weep because this has become a huge part of scratch to us, the users. It's like having Scratch with out Scratch, the cat.
If this gets enough enthusiasm, I, or some other scratcher, will try to create a group of scratchers whose sole purpose is to bring the TBG forums back, though I can't be a coder because I only know JavaScript. Voice your opinion below. Also, any suggestions would be gretly appreciated because I have little experience with websites.

I don't think this'd require any coding, it'd probably just use FluxBB (what it uses right now) if it happened. I think it would be cool if you were able to organise some sort of host for it, where people donated so it could stay up.

Okay. Thanks for your feedback!

They'll probably come up with a way to keep them, so I wouldn't worry too much.
But the ST doesn't make whimsical speeches. If they say that they won't keep the TBG forums, then they won't keep the TBG forums.

Well, in that case, they face a lot of angry Scratchers.

Which is what's going to happen.

Well, duh , that's why in Lightnin's announcement on the TBG forum it said:

So that's the bad news. The good news is that if members of the TBG community decide to setup their own TBG forums on another host, we can provide a way for people to login using their Scratch accounts.
...
It really depends on the TBG community. You'll have better luck asking around there about the future of the TBG than asking here.

The reason why I created this was to see if this would get a lot of support and to organize the effort. Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

The TBG community is a lot different from Scratch to the point where it could be separated. Trust me, any TBG related stuff is better dealt with in the TBG forum than here.

So I should delete this topic? (Meaning this topic and not the one in the TBG forums?)

You could if you want to. Or I could close it instead, whichever you prefer.

btw, I have asked Lightnin (contact us link) for the database archive. Maybe (hopefully) I can get it, and set up a forum with the old archive.

Okay, but before you close this, could you merge this topic with the other topic on the TBG forums? And could you replace the topic text with the text from this one, excluding the text from the very bottom? Thanks.

That would be cool if you could code that. The other thing is hosting. We could pay for a server host with donations (not likely, as most of us are kids), or we could use a free server host like 000webhost, but we have a chance of exceeding storage/bandwith or cpu usage limits.
The last thing I want to know is, will the scratch team let us use a scratchR.org subdomain name?
I support btw.

There's no way to merge TBG topics with the main forum topic - they're two different forums, it's impossible. But I'll just leave a link here redirecting back to the main forum topic here:
