well im working on a project right now that is around 7.9 mb. this problem happened earlier on so i assume it was less mb at the time. im guesssing most scratchers will know what im talking about when i say that whenever i get a large amount of scripts on a charcter and i try to change scripts it lags. that is understandable, what i dont understand is thatnow im actually getting problems, whenever i try to move a large section of blocks on one of these characters or scroll down through the blocks it not only lags but freezes completely. i tried waiting for it to finish but it just froze and i had to exit and start over. this is quite frustrating, but i dont want to bother the scratch team if it is an error with my computer, so why does this happen? also yes ihave been saving very frequently, but the saving itself takes forever too so it still stalls me quite a bit.

You know I've noticed in 1.4 RC the saving is WAY faster. But freezing scratch... hmmm... Idk what could be wrong. Maybe you need a faster computer? But Scratch is slow anyways. Besides HUGE scripts is a bad idea...

Scratch 1.4RC is better. When I was making SentenceSynthesier on 1.3, it froze sometimes too, but S-1.4 is better about it (sometimes lags, but doesn't freeze completely). Of course, it's better to break up big script to several smaller scripts. In SentenceSynthesier 0.5 and 0.6RC I had big scripts to handle searching function - THAT WAS A DISASTER, 4 times I had to start over with some words, or even reset all texts because of Text Glitch.

Are you sure it didn't just lag A LOT? That happened to me once. I was working on a really long script on my really old computer and it lagged so much I had to wait several minutes for my script to move.

i was already past the several minutes stage, and it wasn't even letting me click anything, plus then another window popped up in front (not scratch related it was someone sending me a message on msn) anyway then the scratch project simply showed the thing that was in front of it, so i went down ate breakfast came up like 20 minutes later and it still hadn't loaded, so thats when i gave up and redid it.

actually it was a bit of an exxageration, it takes like 20 seconds when it reaches the point of huge scripts for evry character, but i might be getting a gaming comp with 4 gigs of ram so that should fix that problem

4 GIGS? I'm still living in 2001, my (windows) has 256 megs, which at the time was insanely much.

I have had that problem when working on Oprix (which rides right on the 10 meg upload limit). There is no help in 1.4RC though... It actually lags MORE and does it EVERYWHERE in Scratch. Before you say my computer is outdated, here are the specs: Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 CPU @ 2.4 GHz, 4 gigs of RAM, and a Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics card. Any questions?

The above one is me too, but the wrong account. The specs are the same though.

weird, those are good comps, but its probably just to do with scratch and the large amount of scripts found in large projects. i dont think there is much we can do with our PC's.

Scratch freezes sometimes, but it sometimes isn't Scratch's fault. It can just be your computer freezing. I just save my projects very often. Scratch has frozen a few times for me, but eventually it started back up.
