That's a pretty awkward and weird conversation.

Say you like a show that's similarly girly but less hated, like The Gilmore Girls or Sailor Moon. Would you make sure that everyone you know knew that you liked it? Do you know the favorite TV shows of all your friends, and if you do then did they randomly start conversations about it and then almost immediately leave? I mean, you shouldn't actively keep it a secret, but you don't NEED to tell people about it. This really annoys me about the fandom. It's like, EVERYONE MUST KNOW THAT I LIKE THIS TV SHOW!!!

I didn't say you HAD to awkwardly work it into a conversation. I simply said you COULD if you wanted to and were good at that kind of thing.

It's NOT LIKE THAT for me.

I don't want everyone to know that I watch ponies. It would be disastrous if I did.

But I need my family to know. So I can watch episodes again before I get new headphones and I can play pony songs on Stepmania with the sound on and buy ponies from the Target that will open soon near me.

So I don't have to press the minus button on my web browser whenever my mom walks into my room.

So I can do art of ponies and not have to hide it under piles of stuff.

So I can play pony music out loud.

I don't want EVERYONE to know.

A DISASTER would happen.

You could just not press the minus button, or not hide stuff. Problem solved!

For me, MLP:FiM is something to be a fan of, like jazz or futurama, but not something that makes me special. I don't want to be called a brony anymore, because I perceive it as a label.

The worst part: my mom introduces me, and sometimes she says "he's a brony; it is a male fan of my little pony." And when you say that, it sounds bad. The term really should just stay on the internet mostly, and refer to a population of people.

The good parts do not automatically cancel out the bad parts.
