I don't get electives until high school. Ugh. WHY MUST MIDDLE SCHOOL NOT LET ME HAVE ELECTIVES? WHY?

You know, for a second I thought I just posted that because we have strikingly similar signatures. [/offtopic]
Most other electives at my school are really, really fun, actually. Like, there's this one where we learn about animal biology and stuff, and we get to watch a whole bunch of nature programs in class, and do awesome labs. Recently in class, I watched a snake eat a mouse. IN REAL LIFE, mind you.

Computer classes are generally a waste of time if you know how to use computers already.
So, have fun making Word documents and PowerPoints!
(Although if you do Excel, it's useful to know how to do calculations and macros, I'll give you that much )

Cool! I did something very similar... almost. The whole reason I went to school for the 2 weeks that I did was to attend FutureKids, a computer class. The one day that it was supposed to happen, we sat at the door for 2 hours waiting for the teacher who never showed up, and we were eventually chased away by a teacher that owns a nearby class.
I hope it's fun and NOT full of nerds.
But that's not likely
Lol nah. Really all you do it go over programs and such. Especially in 6th grade - not much goes on that's too new or complicated at all.

here's a conversation for an example:
BirdByte: *sits on chair, on laptop*
Other guy: "Do you ever do something?"
BirdByte: "Yeah, I knew HTML when I was 6."
Other guy: "Yeah, whatever, kid."
BirdByte: "Want me to make a website for you?"
Other guy: "Keep dreaming, kid."
BirdByte: "I'm serious, if you want an example go to birdbyte.tk"
Other guy: *turns to BirdByte* "Listen, you're interrupting my favorite TV show. Why don't you go finger paint or something?"
[ot]Lol, no offense but I'm with the "Other Guy" until his last sentence. Wait, where were you where you're interrupting his tv show?[/ot]
I have Tech Literacy as an elective and I was only told after I signed up for it that it was about typing and power points. At least they put me in woods for my other semester

I'm going into 10th grade and last year (and this year) I chose "Advanced Computer Topics" as my elective, which basically means whatever I want as long as I can show I'm being productive. :3

Typing. Lots and lots of typing.
That's really all that happens.

At my middle school computers is something you have to do. We do sketchup and prezis and stuff like that.
But if it's anything like my old elementary school, you will be typing non-stop and shown how to change the font and text color on word and add images to powerpoint.
Really, it depends on the school.

I like it. Today was my first day.
We got to learn about some technology, it was interesting.

My computer class in 5th and 6th grade were mainly typing, microsoft office, a little Alice, Google Earth, and Google Sketchup. My friend's school has i7 computers with a touchscreen. Lucky....
Lol we get our own laptops, every student, with i5s.

I took one last year. Big mistake.
Man, that class was boring!
Then again, not many sixth graders program with Processing.

I hate that feeling of thinking about an advanced program while my computer teacher gives a lecture to all the confused students on how to minimize a window.

Well, I took computers throughout elementary if that counts. I'm in sixth grade too, and the class I will probably like most is Foundations of Latin.
I used computers in elementary too.
I knew how to use a computer in PRESCHOOL. I'm not lying.
I could use one when I was two. Not lying.
