Dear Scratch Girl, My big sister was mean to a lot of kids, and I have one of the teachers she had this year. My teacher thinks I'm just like my sister, and she treats me badly. I don't want to keep getting in trouble for sharpening my pencil, opening the rings of my binder, or writing my name on a piece of paper. How can I make it end? -Little Sister Blues

Dear LSB, Sometimes, kids are like their siblings, which could make your teacher think you're mean just like your older sister. But that's not always true - and it's not in your case. It's unacceptable that you are getting punished for things that everyone else does, and that you're required to do. So talk to your teacher! Tell her you're not like your big sis - and this will probably help. If it doesn't, tell a parent what's going on. Your parents can always fix things.

Brainstorm. Before you start building your publishing empire, you need to create something. If you have not done so already, sit down with a trusted friend and start bouncing ideas off each other, and see what emerges:
What will be the topic of your magazine? Focus on things you love and know well, whether that is sports, fashion, computers, or social networking. Creating a magazine based on your passions will end up being more engaging, relevant, and useful to your readers than a topic you have no relationship with.
Who is your target audience? This will help you focus on your possibilities. For example, if your topic is fashion, your demographic will have a huge impact on the style and substance of your magazine, as well as potential ad revenue. If your target market is teenage girls, for example, you'll approach the writing, content, even the logo and color scheme much differently than you would if you were targeting men over 40, or gender-neutral 20-somethings.

Scratch Girl magazine targets girls. So it might feel sexist to you, but it's actually not.

hey! I love to write. I'm fine at either non-fiction and fiction! I have mainly been chatting on Scratch but now I have decided to start programming and working for these sort of things. I think it would be perfect if I could help in your magazine!

Of course! Research and find information about dogs that you are interested in    Chances are, if you're interested, the rest of us are too! XD If you would like to draw or find pictures for the article, that's fine. Post the article here when you're done, along with any pictures.
