Last costume

There is a <next costume> button, but how about a last costume button  hmm ? That costume number block is good, but it would be good to make it easier. Anyone who agrees let people know.

Re: Last costume

Hi Animax,

I disagree, because a "last costume" command block might be confusing if not misleading. Would it switch to the previous costume in the sprite's costume list or to the costume that sprite used before the current one?

Re: Last costume

You can now do    switch to costume costume - 1
so there is not much need for a "previous costume" block.

so there is not much need for a "next costume block either...

Or a change (variable) by [#] either...

so... confusing...

Re: Last costume

Scratch does have a lot of "unnecessary" blocks.  Some are there to make it easier for beginners to get started (like "next costume"). Others are there for historical reasons, since earlier versions of scratch did not include the more general method now available.

The "change variable by" block was never needed, but the awkward interface for getting at the numeric expressions makes building "set variable to variable + <>" rather slow.
I would rather the "change" block were more obviously "set variable to variable +", but I can appreciate not having to flip back and forth between the panes so much.

(Of course, the variable pane would be cleaned up a lot if variables were all done with pull-down lists, like messages—then the variable pane and the numbers pane could be merged into one and there wouldn't need to be so much flipping back and forth.)
