Do we flag all spam tags (such as "waffles" and "////")?

see [title v]
I'm just making sure before I flag them.

Whoa, look at all of them:

If they are not relevant to the project they need to be flagged.

I was once viewing a project with the tags a, b, c and d. I flagged them all. BirdByte! You're finally a Scratcher!

Waffles is statistically one of the most common tags used so good luck with flagging all of them.

I'll try. But you can't really make a bot to do it, as some projects might be "how to cook waffles" or "what is your favorite type of waffle?".

Something's wrong. I've flagged a few spam tags, and now the "waffles" tags don't have a [flag] by it.

Whoa, now I can't flag "[+][flag]" tags.

The flag system lets you only flag a tag once. After the tag is flagged, you won't be able to flag the same tag again.

Well, the tag flag system was designed for the removal of really bad tags (like tags that are made up of inappropriate words), it wasn't designed well for, well, tag trends like "waffles".

For Scratch 2.0, the tag system might change, based on a survey about tag usage that appeared earlier in June. How it will look like in Scratch 2.0 is unknown yet.

Re: Do we flag all spam tags (such as "waffles" and "////")?

Few people on this thread are old enough on Scratch to remember the peak of the Waffle trend. I'd say it peaked around the third quarter of Scratch 1.2. I'm not sure why it started, but I remember that almost every single project I saw had "waffles" as one of the tags.

Good times...

In about 4 years I'll probably be saying stuff like that.

That was a joke, and there's no need to hate a trend.

Honestly, what's really wrong with the "waffles" tag?

What makes it spam? It's just a trend, and if people want to tag a project with "waffles" you shouldn't burden the Scratch Team with having to review each and every flag you made one by one.

+1!
It's not worth it for anyone to flag tags like "waffles," which merely wastes up your and the Scratch Team's time. Instead, create a project about how people are wasting time by tagging projects with "waffles".

waffles are waffles, a project with no waffles and tagged waffles is showing off and spam.
it's the users responsibility to tag projects, if someone else tagged it something irrelevant, then it is not the uswers fault and should be flagged.
