In 2.0 we will have a "related projects" feature.

Filtering by location shows projects shared in a nearby area to the original. This data is collected via IP addresses. (link)
If someone could filter projects by location they could very easily find out where I or anybody else lives based on a little research. I dont think this is a good idea.

I think this feature is in place so people can basically find projects by language? Maybe there could be a language feature so you select the language of your project instead/Other+textbox?

WOW, that is a horrible idea. I could understand filtering by country or language, but by location?! I just don't see how the Scratch Team could include such exploitation of personal info.

It's not going to be EXACT location. Because that feature would be ridiculous. If someone was living close enough to see that feature, they would have to be a relative or something.
The 'local' location will probably be fairly broad.

well if its that large then whats the point. i mean there isnt anything that would make projects from quebec different from ones from LA or NY or Tokyo or ANYWHERE? Its totally pointless, you might as well randomly clump together projects because theres no connection between them either

The only reason I see why this is being implemented is so that if your in Spain, you can find other projects from Spain. This would greatly help because quite a few people in Spain don't know English and this would help them find spanish projects. I don't think that this feature should be removed, though I think that it should only do search results by country.
