We've recently activated the Scratch Welcoming Committee!
How does it work?
New Scratchers* will see some new links on their my stuff page, like this:
When they click the link that says "Connect", they'll be taken to a project selected randomly from the welcoming committee gallery. They can then comment to ask questions, get advice, or just say hi.
How can I join?
Make a welcoming committee project and submit a link in a comment on the welcoming committee gallery. See the welcoming committee page for more info.
Scratch On!
* Only about half of all New Scratchers will see these links for now. We're still testing things out!

Very nice! I'm excited to help welcome some newbies.
Does the connect link go to the same project each time a user clicks it, or is it always random?

I'd love to make a welcome project.

This looks like a really cool idea. I might make a project for it.

I love those graphics - very inviting and friendly!
I hope this carries over to 2.0 well.

It's always random...they might get the same project, but most likely, they will not.

Cool! But I don't want to join.
EDIT: I might join.

Wow! Looks really nice!
(This is completely unrelated, but are we getting a 2.0 beta this month?)

It's random - the link changes to a new welcoming committee project each time the my stuff page is loaded.

Cool, I'll see if I can make one.

Great Idea I think this is very helpful for New Scratchers! The next goal would be to have this in different languages...
EDIT: I made a german wiki article about this some weeks ago and a project, too.

Yeah! Depending on how well this works out, we could think about referring New Scratchers to projects made in their language. But for the early stages, we decided that would be too complex. But we'll definitely think about it in Scratch 2.0!

My project wasn't added, so I resubmitted it

I made a project, but its supposedly too large. I took out all background music and still.
It's only three sprites.

I don't know...10-15? Not too many. They weren't large scripts either.
