Scratch

my computer has been downloading for months, but now it has just stopped working. before, on the downloads screen, it would show a scratch project that i could just open, but now it shows it as a document, which it wont let me open, (it says there is no application available even though i have the correct version of scratch on the computer.)

Try searching for the Scratch .dmg (Scratch1.3.1.dmg or Scratch1.4rc.dmg) and open that. Then open Scratch from there and open the project.

I would reinstall Scratch...that would probably fix the file association.

Maybe you could try opening Scratch > Go to Project > Open ...

That's what I generally do. Up until 1.4, even if you were to open a project with Scratch without opening Scratch first, it would ignore the fact that you opened a project and open a blank project.
