I like progressive house, so the things that I like about music are:
A melody that doesn't repeat itself obviously.
A good strong beat which keeps the song in rhythm.
A catchy melody.
If ever there is vocals, it shouldn't touch heavily upon stereotypical subjects.
A large variety of instruments that fit together perfectly.
Atmosphere and ambience.
Nice little breaks between the song where an atmospheric part of the song is playing.
A good example of all these: "Strobe" by Deadmau5 [10:36]

I like music that actually has meaningful lyrics, such as Pink Floyd. On a lesser extent, because I also enjoy some songs with simple structures, I appreciate when songs have complex, outside-the-box chord progressions and time signatures and the sort. Even the Beatles' early stuff had some very baffling chord changes; Bob Dylan once said that "their chords are outrageous, just outrageous".
But then again, I pretty much like a little bit of everything.

I tend to like vocals (no matter how undecipherable)
I uh like a good beat and AutoTune when used to experiment
Not if it's used to make someone sound good (apart from minor tweaks)
Yeah that's all I can think of
cause a bird and a fish could fall in love/but where would they live?

Agreed, but lyrics can also add a deeper meaning to a song as well, imo.

I like music that actually has some meaning to it, has a vocalist who actually sings well, has variety and isn't the same essential song over and over worded differently, and isn't written by whiny adolescents who sing redundantly about their boyfriend or girlfriend and how they broke up.
I can sum up those songs in 2 sentences:
"I break up with my boyfriend/girlfriend."
"I complain about it and write a song about it."
That's why my favorite musical group is One Republic, they don't have any swear words or anything like that in their songs, and have none of the negative characteristics that I listed above.

I like music when it is able to change my mood and I understand how the artist felt at the time they wrote the song.Okay, this might not make sense, but I'll explain why I love Nicki Minaj.
To start off, she does all kinds of genres from as common as pop to reggae (An example of a reggae song by her is Gun Shot) and does great in them all. The only genre I can say I hate is probably heavy metal though. I think it's fine to use autotune, as long as you can't tell or they don't sound like a robot. I just like her voice too.

Just because many of you dislike Nicki Minaj (and I quite frankly am not a huge fan of her either), doesn't give you the right to contradict funelephant's opinions. He/she has just as much a right to an opinion as the rest of us, respect that.
