So, title is fairly clear: when I upload a project, I am asked whether or not I would like to compress the sounds and images in the project. I have never totally understood what this is about, so I have a few questions:
-What does it mean?
-How does it affect the sounds and images in my project?
-Would you recommend checking the box, or will compression decrease the quality of sounds and images?
Thanks in advance!

If I'm correct:
1). Basically it does something (I don't know.) to cut down on the file size of a project. I remember hearing that compressing matched similar values and such, but I'm no expert.
2). It makes the images a bit lower quality, though that's all I know of.
3). If your project is huge, then yes, though make sure that your project doesn't have any shading (via. paint bucket) or else Scratch will give you an error.
I hope that this answers your questions!

Ill explain to you.
When you compress a project it compressess files and sounds inside it.
What does compress mean?
In scratch when you make a project it has 100,50,25 mb I dont know it depends. In scratch it prompts if you wanna compress files and sounds .What it does is that it makes the file and sound files inside the project smaller.

It means that Scratch will try to make the file size of your sounds and images smaller.

Compression can cause the sound and images in a Scratch project to be of lesser quality. Images can become blurry and sounds can have background noise. Bigger sound files and bigger images are more likely to be compressed than smaller ones.

Most Scratch projects still look and sound okay even after compression. If you're uploading something that relies heavily on graphics (like a project that relies on color sensing, or an art slide show) or sound (like a recording that has background noise already), then you might want the box unchecked. Otherwise, it's okay to leave the box checked.
