SCRATCH 1.4 paint editor / pallet. 1.3's was better

Scratch 1.4 SERIOUSLLY is in need of a better paint editor. It lags, and there IS MINIMAL color chose it went from 64 to 32 in the new test. I was hoping that new colors would be added, but instead they took away the colour i USE THE MOST : (dark orangish-lightish brown) (Chez 's Coat color, for those who don't know) so i have been posting projects IN BLACK AND WHITE NOW. please, increase the measly pallet, scratch team.
.... Hate to say but it REALLY SUCKS.

you are certainly peeved. only 32 colors? or 32 bit color palette?  I'll have to check, I don't use the paint editor for pain much, I'm not that good at drawing on Computors.

Yes, I agree. This new version of scratch is uncolorful(If you know what I mean). Now, I'm using Adobe Photo Shop 2.5. It is bad but betterthan 1.4.

Yeah, its really hard to find the same colour several times. I think it would be best if 1.4 had both colour pickers included.

Re: SCRATCH 1.4 paint editor / pallet. 1.3's was better

Color picker?  hmm

You can hold your mouse and drag the color picker to any color on the Scratch screen by the way... But it now keeps snapping to the pixel grid even outside the paint editor, so you have to zoom out.

But I don't really understand what you mean by "both color pickers"

Shouldn't be so angry. You could always use the scratch 1.3 paint editor to make your sprite costumes. You don't need to post your scratch art in black and white.

Kinda helpful, but I'm moving to GIMP image editor for making sprites.

True, but it's hard to get the color you want. AND you will never get the exact same color twice. I'm keeping 1.3 unless that is changed and importing sprites into 1.4. > sad  PUT THE PALETTE BACK!!!

can see Paint.net and similar software for color pickers (or even Java's Swingset demo - Swing has 3 color pickers, Swatches, RGB and HSI)

Re: SCRATCH 1.4 paint editor / pallet. 1.3's was better

The paint editor in 1.4 is good, but for some color things there is an advanced mode better. Input for Red-Green-Blue-Values, or a color picker pinpette also over the Scratch editor, not only in the paint editor.

for some tests, it would be nice to change the transparent background color in another color. If I work with yellow or white, it is very hard to find the tiny dots, a customization for paint editor background ...

to find colors which are near by the white and gray squares

---------------
another problem can be with the SnapShotTool by pressing a long time the mousebutton in the stage.
There is a color change between the colors in the obect and the real colors at the stage. At the corners there are the darker edges. Sometimes is the shadow under the sprites is irritating me by precision, moving Sprites in FullScreen sometimes would be also very helpfull

Or I use in the beginning in my scripts ;-)

Yeah...

I am suprised JSO!

With the color spectrum you can almost never get the same color twice. The spectrum also hides the display that shows the color currently selected, making it even harder to get the exact color you want.  sad

That is true but, as I said, you can use the eyedropper tool to pick the same color twice, even your original color is outside the paint editor. Just keep your mouse pressed and drag the eyedropper out of the paint editor window.

Instead of having more colors in the default palette, I would like some kind of more advanced color picker, like the one from paint.NET: r, g, b, h, s, v ,... It should appear when you click some button.

I made a mockup, what do you think?
http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/8756/advancedcolorpicker.png

Yes there is full transparency, it would be so coool.... But when there will not be any transparency (most likely) the two last rows of the color grid and the last slider of course disappear.

But uhm... This isn't really an advanced topic. You won't be able to change the color palette in 1.4 anymore, so I am moving thos to Suggestions for future versions of Scratch  tongue

I like that mockup, JSO.It's a lot like the Paint.net color scheme picker; I havent downloaded 1.4 yet, but now I'm not sure if I want to; most of my projects revolve around art and animation.

You can always export an old sprite of Chez, and import him into your project. Then you go into the pain editor and use the colors that Chez has.

I haven't downloaded 1.4 yet because I'm waiting for 1.4 to get out of BETA. Someone upload a picture of the 1.4 color palette. I do like JSO's idea and hope that does happen.

Nothing to worry about, it just has a little less colors in the default palette, click the icon on the left and there you go.

So MyRedNeptune likes the mockup  tongue

I don't have a problem with it. I think all the paint editors lagged a bit.
